In 2022 I signed up and paid for one year membership at the gun range. Over the course of the year I used it 3-4 times, last time in maybe January or February 2023. I also put a gun on consignment and had a bad experience (they sold it, asked me to accept a lower price, then ***** later said they talked the buyer out of the purchased, but had not contacted me with update; when I asked to pick the firearm back up they insisted on charging me for its return. Doubly upset.) I did not return to the range, have no interest in their services. In August they charged me $249 for 2023-2024 membership. I had already discontinued going many months ago. They gave me no notice that they were renewing my membership, no opportunity to say no, just found the new charge on my credit card. No receipt was sent, no membership card, nothing except the charge. I called today, spoke with **** (?) and asked about this and was told I had to cancel 30 days prior to end of first year. I had no idea, didn't recall, AND they had sent me nothing to indicate they were going to charge. They know I was unhappy with service and had not been in since beginning of year at latest. They refused to refund the charge. Thus my complaint to BBB to secure that refund.Business response

Per our Firearm Consignment Agreement customer signed by ************************* on 11/3/2022
Consignment cost is $50 or 10% of the value of the firearm listed, whichever is greater. Removal of this firearm by the Consigner will be charged an amount equal to that of the 10% of the agreed initial sale price of the firearm. After 30 days RAC can ask Consignee to lower the price to increase the chance for sale. After an additional 30 days RAC can terminate the consignment agreement, subjecting Consignor the above agreed fees. *************** finally came in to get his gun back on 5/4/2023 and we only charged him 10% of the lowered amount $109.99 but per contract he should have paid $150 and it was well over the contracted time of 60 days. We never sold his gun and talked a customer out of it. We had a customer ask to pay less, we called him to ask but the customer decided to not buy his firearm for personal reasons.
Per our Indoor Shooting Range Membership/Credit Card Recurring Payment Authorization Form all members are told it is recurring. All members are told they have to email ***************** 30 days prior to the next billing date in order to stop their auto payment. *************** received a receipt with his range membership and next billing date. He approved payment and reoccurring payment the day he signed up. I checked all emails and we never received an email from this customer to stop his auto payments. We still have not to this day received a email request to stop his membership. He needs to send it to ***************** 30 days prior to the next billing date.

I am rejecting this response because it is unfair and unprofessional and business failed to notify me that there was a renewal, no notifications or communications whatsoever. Rude when contacted about it. I quit going at beginning of year, didn't use year purchased and absolutely had no intent to do business with them. I want my refund!

Our Indoor Shooting Range Membership is just like a gym membership. You have to cancel by email 30 days prior to the next billing date in order to have your next payment inactivated. If you do not use your membership there is no refunds. If we do not receive a cancellation notice we can not stop the payment. This member never sent an email as per his signed CC Authorization form on his Range Membership Contract. On all Range Memberships, the next due dates and amount is on their receipts. This customer called after his payment already went through. There are no refunds on accounts not cancelled
