An ultrasound tech/PA *********** screamed at me because I winced in pain during an ultrasound. She refused to run the entire ultrasound because I was in pain. I was offered pain medication after she screamed at me and she yelled at me some more to ask if I could get through an ultrasound. I explained to her that I couldn't help but to wince in pain so if she couldn't deal with that I'd just go somewhere else. She let me know that she would not be helping me and she let me limp out of the hospital with a possible blood clot because she was upset that I winced. This emergency room is being extremely unsafe by letting angry unhinged PAs yell at patients and refusing to help patients properly just because the patients are in pain. I felt extremely unsafe.Business response

Date(s)of Service: 7/5/24Thank you for the opportunity to address the patient concerns in your letter dated July 6, 2024. In response, Northern Nevada Medical Center has completed a review of the patients medical record and any documentation related to the incident in question.
Description of Complaint(s):
Patient complained about the Ultrasound Tech behavior and unprofessionalism.
A full and comprehensive review of the patients complaint was conducted by our Director of Diagnostic Imaging. This follow-up also included a review of the patients medical records and staff interviews. Although we cant share confidential information action taken, the Director has addressed the staff member involved. The Director also provided education to the team about the importance of kindness and compassion during patient care.
In summary, Northern Nevada Medical Center is committed to providing excellent patient care and customer service to all. We appreciate our collaboration with the BBB and strive to provide the best possible clinical care to all of your members as well as the other patients we serve. We take all concerns of our community partners very seriously and strive to improve our performance, when indicated.
