We had our transmission rebuilt on our ********* **** *** ******* earlier this year. It cost us $3780. The shop told us it would be a few days end up being about three weeks. When receiving the vehicle the battery wasn’t connected and we had to fix that. They broke the connectors. We let that go but our car kept acting up and was leaking. We fixed a few different things trying to solve the issues. We brought it back in and they still claimed it was oil not transmission fluid. Multiple times we brought in the vehicle and aamco kept saying it wasn’t anything they did. We brought it to other shops they said the transmissions seals weren’t even replaced and there wasn’t a proper seal. The transmission was leaking and the fluid was black. Aamco continued to say that it was not the transmission and the other shops and pictures we had were false. We then added dye to the transmission it lit up right at the broken seal and aamco couldn’t deny it was the transmission. They said they would fix it and the entire inside of the transmission had to be replaced. It was exactly what took them three weeks to do last time but they did it in 24hrs. Now the car is stalling, chugging and shifting gears on its own. They claim it’s not the transmission that they just repaired, and it’s something else. I have three kids in a vehicle that is clearly not safe because of the job that they did. We don’t even feel comfortable having our vehicle worked on there because it seems there’s always a new worse problem when we get it back. It’s almost as if they are breaking it instead of fixing it. We have lost multiple jobs due to this and have had financial issues from their negligence.

BBB spoke with the owner who said that he refunded the money.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and I’m glad that we got a refund. But my van now has 9codes. So now we will be paying even more to get it fixed after waiting months. Highly disappointed in Aamco.  Regards, ***** **********

Hope you never have a problem after work is complete. After a full rebuild with maybe 1,000 miles, had an axle seal leaking and the owner was extremely rude and unprofessional about getting the warranty repair done. They also replaced the lower control arms that were not torqued to specification and could have been a disasteriois result. Definitely stay away from this place. I'm seriously considering reporting this AAMCO franchise to their corporate office concerning their unprofessionalism.

BBB spoke to Vinnie at the business and the following was relayed: The customer was moving to the Albany area and his vehicle broke down. We rebuilt the transmission. The customer can bring the vehicle to us, another AAMCO shop or independent shop and have the warranty work. If he brings it to another shop, just have them contact me and I will pay to have taken care of. The customer should address this as soon as possible so that the issue does not become a bigger problem. This is the first we are hearing of the lower control arms having any issue, they are torqued to specifications.
