The man that works at this location is regularly rude and verbally abusive to myself and other customers. He always speaks in a very condecending manner to those looking for service and even witnessed him yell at / verbally abuse an elderly woman about the packaging for a parcel she was returning because it wasn't overwrapped despite the original label being affixed. I asked for his name on 7/8/2022 to file a complaint and he refused to tell me and ordered me to leave. It's truly unfortunate as this is not the level of customer support I would expect from a professional business.Business response

The customer *********** ****** had a package that needed to be sent out back to amazon that needed a return label printed. We charge 2 dollars for that service, Every UPS Store charges that price at the bare minimum. We have never been rude or verbally abusive to him or any of our customers. The customer asked why a piece of paper costs 2 dollars and I we told him it was because the contents of what is one the paper is what makes the price. He did not like the response we gave and verbally abused the other customers and our worker.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I would like to speak with the store manager and district manager with respect to the encounter both during this date and others where the employee referenced was verbally abusive and rude to myself and other customers to ensure he/she is aware of and addressing the issue to improve the experience for all of us.
Regards,
*********** ******

The UPS Store at 8351 Lewiston Rd in Batavia NY is charging people twice for deliveries. There is either a charge for weight of an item or a flat rate charge. They are charging for both. On their receipt they do not call it a "flat rate" they call it "Add'l Handling". The UPS website has flat rates listed and the "Add'l Handling" charge from The UPS Store matches those rates. Their rules for applying the rate also matches what is listed on the UPS site. UPS determines its flat rates based on the size of the item being shipped. The UPS Store matches its "Add'l Handling" rate to those size requirements set by UPS. I worked for UPS for 4 years and I went directly to the building and asked them why The UPS Store charged me so much, they confirmed that I was not charged correctly. The UPS Store in Batavia is taking advantage of people and of UPS.Business response

Ms ***** brought a mailing tube to be shipped to North Carolina. When an item is not encased in cardboard, oversized, overweight, in a mailing tube they charge more. They will hand carry it because they are afraid it will clog up the conveyor belt and packages will fall off and might get damaged. The shipment was in a mailing tube. When the customer got the quote on UPS.com, the customer did not Input that the item was put in a mailing tube. Therefore, the customer didn't get the right price quote,
There is no flat rate charge (if she worked at UPS like she claims she would know this), the price is determined by weight OR size, and distance. There can be additional charges for rural areas and packing type. We enter the weight, dimensions and address in the computer and it gives us a price. We are not allowed to charge more than price on the screen, the price on the screen is set by UPS, UPS closely monitors what we charge.
When she came to the store to complain, she claimed she works at our local UPS delivery center, but no one in our local service center ever heard of her. She told us she got a quote online, now she claims she went directly to the service center.
