I hired 5 Stars movers to help me with my local move (10 minutes drive).1. The contract said that they will start at 8-9am, however, they called to notify that they will be coming at 12pm, then they called again notifying that they will be coming at 3pm, and finally they showed up at 5:30pm. I mentioned several times that my building does not allow moving after 5pm, but they did not care and created a big issue with the building's management on that day.2. By 9pm they placed everything in the track and drove to my apartment, which was 10 minutes away, but did not unload it - they said they will come next morning at 7:30 am. They just gave me my mattress, so I was sleeping on it that night without a blanket. They drove with all my furniture from Queens to Bronx, where they waited till the next morning. 3. The next day they came back, but were moving things in very slowly. They would not assemble the couch together and were just waiting for time to go by, as they were working on an hourly basis. I noticed that my file cabinet and bed side table had a dent on it. 4. At one point the person in charge told me that they will stop the clock and asked me to pay upfront - the price was USD1,020. I mentioned that there are a couple of broken pieces and we agreed that the price will be USD860. He demanded cash, so I gave it to him. After 5 minute he returned money back to me and said that since I want a discount, they will continue "working" as hourly to charge me more. 5. They were just sitting in the basement and not moving things inside my apartment, they would not give my belongings to me until I paid them - the next time he demanded *****. I paid.6. After they left, I discovered that half of my furniture has been damaged - kitchen table (that I asked many time to be careful with) had a big dent, cracked mirror, furniture scratched all over the place, broken plates, one clothing box was not returned- I saw that it was broken into pieces, so they left it in the track.
