This matter is regarding treatment done at the office of ************************* on 3/8/22. I went to this dentist based on the recommendation of ************************************************. The procedure that needed to be done was an extraction and an implant. On 2/16/22 I called the office of ****************** to ask how much money these two procedures will cost with my dental insurance; MetLife. Their response was that they cannot give me an exact amount but based on their experience with previous patients, my out-of-pocket cost would be about $1600. On 2/21/22 I called to set up an appointment. and again asked about the estimated out-of-pocket cost. They confirmed again that it would be more or less $1600. I explicitly stated that I am only willing to do the treatment based on that amount. At the time of treatment I paid a total of $1780. Additionally the receptionist asked me to sign a credit card-on-file agreement stating that I will pay the difference that the insurance doesn't cover. She again assured me that there is a small possibility that I will have to pay another small amount. I then get a bill in the mail stating that I owe another $1673.90 because the insurance didn't cover the rest of their dental claim. After unsuccessfully trying to work it out with the dental office, I disputed the charge on my card after I noticed that they charged my card 6/14/22.On 5/25/22 I called the dental office about this issue. The office manager was not at all understanding and just kept on repeating there's nothing they can do because the insurance didn't cover the claim. When I asked why I was told repeatedly that my out of pocket cost will only be $1600 she answered that this was based on other patients with the same insurance plan and the same treatment. There was no transparency on the part of the dental office. I only consented to the medical procedure based on the given verbal estimate. Additionally, the dentist failed to do his due diligence by not sending in a pre-treatment estimate.Customer response
