On 2023-09-16, I registered for the Brooklynite Fall Half Marathon, organized by City Tri to be held on 2023-10-08.On 2023-10-05 (less than 3 days prior to the event), City Tri contacted me via mass e-mail to announce that the event had been canceled. They indicated a willingness to compensate participants by providing free registration for a replacement event in 2024.On 2024-01-07, I attempted to contact City Tri via e-mail to arrange a refund for the canceled race in lieu of a replacement ********** Tri did not reply.Throughout the month of January, I attempted to reach City Tri via multiple means: e-mails to the address ********************************* listed on their website (**********************************), texts to the phone number *************) listed (as "text us only") on their website, e-mails to an address ********************************************* from which I continue to receive promotional e-mails from City Tri, and messages via Instagram *** *************.In at least one of these messages, I raised the possibility of receiving free entry into the Brooklyn Spring Half Marathon in lieu of a refund. However, due to City Tri's inability to respond (in any way) to my attempts to reach out, I ended up scheduling alternative plans for the date + time at which that event is to be held. Finally, on 2024-01-30 (and after at least 7 attempts to reach City Tri on my part), I received a reply indicating that I had received free registration for the Brooklyn Spring Half Marathon. However, as indicated, that event was no longer a possibility for me at that point.I attempted to reach out to City Tri on 2024-02-17 to explain that the proposed resolution was no longer possible for me due to their lethargy in replying to my communications. I have yet to receive a reply as of 2024-03-02.At this point, only a full refund of the original purchase ($110.79) seems suitable to me as a resolution.

CityTris ******** page claims they ...are a multisport event organizer focused on producing safe and memorable events. Well, it was definitely a memorable event but 100% not safe. We learned while talking to my brother himself and the other runners (and their friends/family) in the hospital waiting room that there were only 3 WATER STATIONS for a **** mile marathon. I understand that it was not a straight **** mile route but instead three 4.3 mile loops. However, the water stations were only found at the beginning, middle, and end of said loop. All runners I spoke to voiced their concern that the majority of the water cups at these stations were empty as the volunteers were understaffed and could not work fast enough to refill waters. In addition, we now know that there was NO MEDICAL STAFF PRESENT for the entirety of the marathon. Lastly, the race director's manner of handling the situation was rude, insensitive, and unprofessional. For example, not a single organizational representative came to the hospital to check on the wellbeing of the runners. I am not sure of the number of runners that ended up being hospitalized as I only witnessed around 5 in NYU Langone Brooklyn and the hospital themselves claimed many were turned away and sent to other local hospitals. I cannot say if all runners in this marathon were fully prepared for their half marathon, but I do believe that **************** and safeguards of the event could have made it safer for ALL runners. It appears that CityTri was not prepared to host a summer marathon. They apparently seem like a smaller organization than lets say NYRR or NYCRuns but that is no excuse for the negligence at play. If you are a runner interested in CityTri events please think twice before entering one of their marathons. My actual review is ***** characters but I cannot submit this.
