I had my 2012 ********* ****** ******* 62k miles serviced at Clinton collision in September 2022. David N******* was working with me. They replaced the driver side door(I supplied), passenger fender(I supplied), and small collision work on passenger rear quarter panel; as well as paint the passenger side of car, front bumper, and driver side door. I was charged $4,500 and shown no color swatch before it was painted. Upon pickup, I noticed the new paint was 6 shades darker than the original paint. David told me to wash it a few times and it will lighten up. After 6 washed the paint was still dark. While Dave admitted that it’s hard to match the exact paint, he said he didn’t think it would be this dark, and “the guys”thought they made a proper selection. I explained my displeasure in the paint not even being close to the original. Since it was in October and Clinton collision stated they do not do work in the winter, David said: “ don’t worry, come back in the spring and I’ll take care of you”. I have been trying to get an appointment with Dave since April ‘23. Finally I had dropped the car off Thursday June 22nd. Dave called me into the shop Friday, June 23 to actually show me the new color swatch-which actually matches. He proceeded to tell me he would fix his mistake for $2,000. I don’t understand why I am being charged twice for the same paint job that he said he would take care of. When i stated that, he said: “that’s not what i meant”. Refused to give me copy of original and updated invoice. I have since picked up my car on Monday, June 26th. I have included pictures of the car in original paint, Dave’s paint job-to see the stark contrast and the new color swatch. Keep in mind they never showed me the original swatch. I would like the job taken care of like he said and correct the mistake. Or some of the original $4500 back so I can goto a place that can match.

Customer invoice total was $3997.24. Have copy of original signed invoice when vehicle was picked up. He should have got a copy but if not I can give him one. This was not minor repair quarter panel needed 8 hours repair. Customer advised to blend left fender and left quarter panel because of variances in paint. Every insurance company would blend in same situation. Being a 2012 there is also paint fade over the years even if car has never seen a winter. I highly doubt Dave told him to wash 6 times and it would lighten up. Also that we do not work in winters we fix cars all year non stop. We are willing to work with customer to resolve this problem.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  The issue is the wrong color paint-shown in the pictures and the correct new color swatch. David did indeed direct me to wash car multiple times and come back in the spring due to him not working in the winter. I did hand over $4500 due to painting the side door- which was damaged after the original estimate. I would like for the car to be painted the correct color-as shown with the correct (new) color swatch. Again for the first time being painted I was never shown a color swatch. I was going to be charged $2000 to repaint the error. David told me the paint costs $500 to mix. What is the other $1500 for? I would like them to just re paint or refund. This was not my mistake and don’t see why I have to pay for them to fix it. The car is the wrong color by 6 shades. David has the color swatches on a key ring in the back office that he showed me. He also showed me the computer program you use to make the paint and search coded. Why can’t this issue be re-painted with the correct color? I was also quoted 4300 from another collision shop that said the car should have been painted by painting both sides, front AND back bumper.   Regards , ******* ******

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I will accept only under the condition that Clinton Collision paint the car the correct way as it was explained to me by the second collision shop. I have included a copy of that estimate stating the front bumper+grill, RT+LT fender,RT+LT doors+side mirrors, RT+LT quarter panels, and the rear bumper. I don’t want to be in this situation again with a mis matched side/back two tone color car.   Regards, ******* ******
