August of last year I took out a loan for 500 dollars from ***** ***** loans. I had two prior loans from them that I paid off. On the third loan I was unable to pay it off. I received a email from around January from ***** ***** stating that the loan was sold to Debt direct based out of Buffalo NY. Well I just received a phone call August 7th from someone working for Debt direct. At first the guy calling didn't give his name. Instead he was hostile and out of line. He told me he was a litigator and he was calling to take my statement for the court. He kept telling me I might be facing fraud charges. I told him I didn't fraud anybody and that's when he said he was calling because of my loan from ***** green. I don't understand how what this company does is legal. At what point does a debt collection company cross the line? I felt it was totally unprofessional. The entire loan was for 500 250 was paid towards it. But yet debt direct is saying I owe almost 4000 dollars. How is that legal. They bought the debt from a company and now they want 8 times that amount. The guy on the phone Told me his name was Simon R**** and he gave me the number *** *** ****. He didn't even give me the name of the company. I had to call ***** ***** to figure it out. Someone needs to investigate this company and it's methods.

I have a past loan with ***** ******(**). They sold the remainder of the loan to Debt Direct. ** emailed me letting me know this. Since then I have received threatening calls. In 4/2024 I received voicemails saying that I needed to return their call asap to confirm my correct adress to confirm I would be available to be "served paperwork I need to sign for" These VMs came from a unavailable ID and the person did not identify themselves or who the were calling from in the VMs. After calling them back, I was told that I had to call a attorney at a spefic phone number and that they did not have any of my info. They said they are only the people that serve the paperwork. Upon returning the call to the attorney, he told me all my loan details and that his client was requesting payment. I told him I needed to verify this information. I was not able to verify any of his information as Direct Direct does not answer and ***** ****** only redirects to debt direct since it was sold. I ignored this after not beinng able to verify anything and fear of a scam. I recieved a few more calls with VMs like this but disregarded. Time has now passed and someone from saying they are from***** ******* ********* calling from ###-###-#### in regards to a pre~litigation case that is being filed with the sate of California against myself. The VM states this;" Hi this is a message is intended for (my full name)this is ***** ******* calling from ************ ********* regarding your pre-litigated case for case number ******** I have an allocated 48 hour hold to have either you or your legal representative respond to avoid further proceedings with the state of California I can be reached at ###-###-#### extension is 124. They have called my family memebers as well with this same VM and details. I called them back they claim to represent ***** ****** on behalf of debt direct. I am unable to verify them also. This is harassment and intimidation especially calling my family members.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have since been able to review the email and al settlement offered they sent in regards to resolving the account sent the same day I complained. It is attached. It is a now a different name than the caller in the VM that addresses the email and settlement letter. This was a request I made from them in attempt to verify validity of the company and debt. This specific business cannot be verified as they represent. There is a company with this name, however, this is not their contact information, address, or services provided. Much of this email looks cut and pasted. This is not okay to be harrassed and intimidated by multiple collections companys posing as someone they are not to intimadate people to collect onnyour behalf. The resolution is not satisfactory. A investigation is necessary and all collection efforts should be indefinitely stopped as this has been unlawful in so many ways. As well as disparaging to my character by calling family members.    Regards, ******* *********

Was contacted (and family members contacted) by a Northwestern Mediation Services threatening legal action against me. I contacted them and they had info regarding a loan that I still had payments outstanding on, which had been sold to Debt Direct Portfolio Management. I have been trying to reach someone at the original loan company for several weeks to find out who was now servicing my loan, and set up payments, but they only told me that the account was no longer with them. I finally had someone at the original loan provider (LoanMe), confirm that Debt Direct Portfolio Management bought my loan. I called them to resolve this issue and cannot get a hold of anyone. Only a voicemail to leave my contact info. Trying to resolve this matter with no luck. More than happy to resolve this in a civil matter, but not with threatening and harrassing calls to family members.

I received numerous calls from someone calling themselves “location specialist Jackson” for filing a claim from Debt Direct saying he’s going to be showing up to my home or work. They have called my family and left personal info in the voicemails, which is illegal and extremely unethical & unprofessional. I was being threatened & spoken to rudely & informed me there would be legal action taken against me involving court filings. Incredibly traumatic experience. This is not a way things should be handled in any capacity.

I got a call on 5/8/24 from a Lori w***** from an unknown number. She left me a VM with personal information of where I lived stating someone would come out to identify me and if I didn’t know what was going on to call her. I called the number she left me on the voicemail and asked for my social to verify she then proceeded to say I was getting sued for fraud on a loan for ***** ******. I was so confused and caught off guard started to panic mind you I have heart problems. She gave me several options and I gave her my debit card number and agreed to pay $250 a month. She sent me an email that seemed odd and there was another name on the email which was ****** consulting. Later on I went through my email and saw that my loan was sold to Debt direct management LLC and if I had any questions to contact them. I did then they proceeded to tell me that it was sold to United something and then they transferred me back over to the same lady who left me a VM. The ****** consulting doesn’t even have an address when you google it. I gave my debit card information and now feel like I’m getting scammed. I don’t know what to do.

The company called my birth mother who I have not spoken to in over 6 years, making her think that I had gotten into trouble. Then proceeded to call my ex-stepfather and ex-grandfather to tell him that I used his name in reference to the loan. All of this over an $800 loan. The person who called all of them, Ryan, then proceeded to threaten me with suing and scare tactics. When I tried to negotiate a payment plan he continued to talk over me and told me I should borrow money from family to cover the loan. Incredibly unprofessional and predatory behavior, as I was trying to come to a resolution. I have all the voicemails saved, where he clearly tries to imply to these people who are not even in my life, that I am in trouble or used their name on credit.

Cease and Desist Demand and Inquiry Regarding Debt Representation Dear Sir/Madam, I trust this communication finds you well. I write to address a matter of pressing concern regarding the activities of the office of **** *****, particularly in relation to their attempts to contact me regarding a debt matter. On 4/2/2024, I received a call from the number ###-###-####, originating from Utah, purporting to represent the interests of **** *****. Upon investigation, it has come to my attention that the debt in question was purportedly transferred from ***** ***** ***** to Debt Direct Management. It is my understanding that Debt Direct Management may have engaged **** ***** for collection purposes. I am deeply troubled by the conduct of the representative from **** *****, who persistently contacted my place of employment despite my explicit instruction to desist from such communication, a request that carries legal weight under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Furthermore, I have documented evidence in the form of harassing messages, complete with timestamps, as well as correspondence between the representative and my employer subsequent to my directive to cease contact. I demand immediate cessation of any further communication from **** ***** or any affiliated parties regarding this matter. Failure to comply with this demand will leave me no choice but to seek legal recourse to protect my rights under the FDCPA. Additionally, I seek clarification on the relationship between Debt Direct Management and **** *****, particularly regarding their representation of my debt. Confirmation of their involvement in this capacity would be greatly appreciated. Your prompt attention to this matter is imperative. I kindly request a timely response to confirm the status of the representation of my debt and acknowledgment of the cessation of further communication from **** ***** or its agents. Thank you for your cooperation in resolving *****

I received a call from ******* Portfolio Management back on 3/2023 and they informed me that they are now in charge of my loan with ***** ***** *****. It was to collect the debt that I owed. Very aggressive and stated I need to make a payment right away. I wanted to set up a payment plan but I needed to decide what I could afford. I had every intention on paying it back times are hard right now.Currently paying 59.95. They’ve called me several time have called me family multiple times and even my work place. I did talk to plan green loans and they did inform me they did sell my loan to another company. I wanted to confirm that this ******* portfolio is really legit before I start giving even more money that I don’t have. As they threatened to sue me and stated that someone was coming to my home (had my personal address and information). I informed them I did not receive anything in the mail or email but they kept saying they sent it to my email but I did not and even checked my spam box. As they were being rude and inconsiderate, I started to panic and had to sign a form for them to authorize them to start making payments I owe on the debt. I had to make my first payment for $59.99 and then every 2 weeks they will charge me $259. Something seemed very off and I contacted ***** ***** *****. They informed me that Debt Direct Management is now in charge of collect payment on my debt and to contact Debt Direct Management. I emailed Debt Direct as I wanted to confirm if Debt Direct is associated with ******* Portfolio Management but not have heard a response. I don’t like being threatened and it seems like a scam and want to prevent them for going any further on collecting money from me. I’m already struggling so hard financially and this is the last thing I need to do but I haven't received anything in the mail nor my email. Isn’t that standard practice?
