I have been contacted by Eastpointe Recovery Group several times and they always use a suspicious number coming up as a North Carolina number. Each time I have been threatened by them with police and attorneys getting involved. I have offered to pay what I can afford but they refuse to accept this and still resort to threats of police and attorneys. I have also been very sick with a life threatening illness and they refuse to hear this. Like I said, I am willing to pay what I can afford monthly but they refuse to accept this. Please help. Per the account notes a request was received on 5/17/2023 from the consumer to make payments in the range $100-150 a month due to a hardship. Since receiving this request via email we have attempted to contact the consumer by phone on 5/17/2023 and 5/31/2023 to discuss getting payments set up based on her financial situation. We have yet to speak to her. The calls and threats Miss.****** is receiving are not from Eastpoint as we have not spoken to her, Our office is happy to work with Miss. ****** to work out an amicable payment arrangement. During the pandemic I experienced extreme financial hardship and was unable to pay a number of credit cards, all of which were referred to debt collectors. I have successfully set up and am honoring monthly payments with all other debt collectors, one of which is almost paid in full. In contrast is Eastpoint, where I also have an outstanding debt. Unlike all other debt collectors I am working with, I am unable to set up a monthly payment via their website. Their website literally only allows you to pay in full with a single payment, or negotiate to pay in full with 6 payments. Neither is an option for me, but no other options are provided. They call and text me constantly. I simply would like to set up a low monthly payment on my account (less than $100) and don't have the money to pay in full and don't have the money to pay a reasonable percentage of the debt within 6 payments. If I did have the money in full, my debts wouldn't have been referred to a collector. Their collection practices are unreasonable, and it feels like a scam.Eastpoint Recovery Group, Inc. Response

Your website is ONLY set up to negotiate within 6 payments, or pay in full. There is no way to set up a recurring monthly payment on your website. I do not believe this is a good business practice.Customer Response

Your admission that I would need to call and set up payments over the phone is exactly the issue. Please provide a means to initiate payments in writing, such as via website. Your comment to my review is misleading - your website is ONLY set up to negotiate within 6 payments or to pay in full in 1 payment.Review from Katrina K.

DO NOT USE THE ONLINE RESOLUTION PORTAL. IT'S A FRAUD. The portal has a section that is supposed to allow you to make an offer to resolve the debt on terms you can afford. It asks you to enter an amount you can pay and how many payments you want to make. I PUT IN 3 DIGITS, the first of which wasnt even the first number on the amount owed, " 120", which was a typing error and hit the back button on my keyboard to delete and reenter the amount and after I hit that back button once it flipped those 2 numbers into 6 in this format "$0000.00" for the full amount that I owe and announced that I had made a binding agreement to pay the entire amount the very next day, and If I didn't the full amount would be due without any further negotiation and hinted at possible legal action. I will be pursuing this through the legal system.Eastpoint Recovery Group, Inc. Response

This place has called me over and over about an debt that was old., now they are threatening me that I need pay 3,000 or 2500 with monthly payments. I told them I don’t have a job, they was asking me questions about my personal life about where I work now and why did I leave this employer, I told them my dad has passed away on my unit, and I walked out of the employment from distress of my father passing. They asked me about a house I bought with my dad in 2018… it very distressing right now. Dealing with all of this… after doing research, they are not associated with Texas Secretary of State. They been harassing me and spoofing their phone numbers to my local area. Calling my mom… so stop contacting me or I’ll will file and get real legal action. I am requesting a cease and desist that these calls stop immediately… also Section 392.101 of the Texas Finance Code prohibits a third-party debt collector or credit bureau from engaging in debt collection in Texas unless the third-party debt collector or credit bureau has obtained a surety bond and filed a copy of the bond with the Office of the Secretary of StateReview from Allison S

My family has changed their phone numbers and blocked this company’s phone number. Somehow they keep finding my family and trying to contact them about me. I do not know what scam you are trying to collect on but I would like the calls stopped now. How on earth do you get my new phone number and call me at 6:30am about my cousins loan which I have never been associated with? Especially i just got a new cell number and what office calls this early? On what grounds are you finding this contact information? I will contacting my lawyer today about this, this is violation of my rights and i am sure based on all other reviews you violated company rights as well as all others here that gave you bad reviews. You just put a stop on those accounts after a complaint but no one ever said how did you get those contacts if they have never been associated with loan accounts???? Mrs. ******** has a debt that was placed in our office for collections. Correspondence has been mailed to her regarding this. We have isolated Mrs. ********'s account to a cease and desist status and no further calls will be placed. Should she wish to resolve this matter she can contact our office directly.
