Tom C****** (father, phone# *** *** ***** and Joe C****** (son, phone# *** *** ****) of Professional Home Repairs (address: ** ******** St #****, Buffalo, NY 14206) performed a concrete resurfacing work on my front porch on July 26, 2022 (please see the attached receipt). Tom C****** wrote on the receipt a 1 year warranty on all work performed. In the winter, the resurfaced concrete started flaking and peeling off on various spots of the surface and the side faces of the front porch. I called Tom in early May 2023, and he said to call back when the weather is warmer like in the 70 degrees so that his son can finish the job in a single trip. As the temperatures are in the 70s now, I called Tom again -- which he did not answer to all calls, so I texted him with a long message. When I called again, he answered but he said "I don't warrantee any concrete jobs, I don't have money and do what you want" to my possible legal recourse and said swear words at me. I told him that I have from him a written warranty on all work performed. I would like his son to come out and finish the repair work in quality and durability. They also should give the limited warranty for this resurfacing job beyond 1 year. Failure to do the repair work in a timely manner will force me to seek full refund of the $1,500 plus additional compensation for the unnecessary work that Tom C****** is forcing me to do to get this job finished. A timely completion of the repair work to my satisfaction and a limited warranty will make me consider the job fully finished and I won't seek full refund. Another Address of Thomas C******: *** * ******* St, Buffalo NY.

      Customer response

      06/15/2023

On June 3, 2023, Tom C******’s two sons, Dominick and Joe,  came and did the repair work on the damaged areas (i.e., the photos in the original complaint).  They were courteous and cooperative.  They said they will do their best to repair them and make them look nice, and performed their work.  They were pleasant and respectful.  At the end of their repair work, Dominick said “if there is any problem, call or message Joe and we will come and take care of it” (I have Joe C******'s number).  Therefore, the two conditions in the complaint ID ******** are met and hence this complaint may be closed. I must also add, the day before before they showed up, Tom shouted, said F-words, said I will see you in court, and hung up on me.  I still texted him “what time tomorrow will you start the work?”.  The next morning Tom texted me at 8:45am: “We will be there sometime 2day and if you harass my workers we will walk off the job! Also I need you to send me pictures of the damaged areas by 930am”.  He already had the pictures of the damaged areas in the file forwarded by BBB to him.  I took the pictures again and sent him, and asked him to text me the approximate time when his workers will come. He never replied. My experience with Tom’s Home Repairs (aka Professional Home Repairs) is that I will never work with Tom C****** again, but his two sons (Dominick and Joe) are courteous and pleasant to work with. If they work independently of their father, they have a promising future. They could develop a good business to meet the customers’ needs independently from their father. I would like to thank BBB for assisting me to resolve this issue.  Everyone should check the BBB website before hiring any independent contractor with whom they had no prior experience. Sincerely, ***** ***
