Installation Cost on a warranty item (Solaredge Inverter)Same as Complaint from 11/2/2022 In 2018 I had solar panels installed by Grid City. To date, the system stopped producing power. I had the same issue a year or two ago and it was handled, remotely, from a Grid City representative. I spoke with a representative 2 weeks ago and was told that he sees a system error "188 error code." I asked what does that mean and the representative didn't know and said that I needed a new invecter, which is under warranty. The representative said the installation cost would be $1,350 (2 men, a truck, and other miscellaneous cost). I explained that the warranty covers the replacement and the installation. The representative said a small nominal fee, which he never disclosed and offered to deduct Grid City's fee. $1,350 is an outrageous, especially on my end the box does not show any error lights (yellow, red), and I've done a reboot. The inverter shows it's on, it's just not storing power. Grid City did not offer to send a Tech to troubleshoot before providing they provided their installation fee. I do not feel that I'm being given correct information. To date, I'm paying for a system that's not generating power. Please help to rectify this matter. Thank you.Business response

In 2015 I had solar panels installed at ******************************************************************** by Gridcity energy. Grid city Energy used Solaredge products. In October 2022 it was discovered that two voltage optimizes were NOT operative and as a result two sections of solar panels are no longer producing energy. Per the Solaredge product liability they would cover the replacement of the optimizer and all labor costs involved for the repair. Gridcity energy has agreed to use the product warranty to obtain the optimizer replacement however they are charging me labor costs to install the optimizes. I questioned the expense for labor since the product warranty states that all labor costs were covered. Gridcity energy stated that they only cover $150 of labor costs and its gonna cost over $500 for the repair. I challenged the $500 expense quoting that the warrantee stated it covers all labor costs and I should not have to provide the additional labor expense. Grid city did not agree and refuses to install the product without an agreement to pay for the additional labor costs. I feel that Gridcity should recover the labor costs from SolarEdge per the warranty. I called SolarEdge to verify the warranty information and they confirmed that all labor costs will be compensated within 90 days of purchase of the optimizes.Business response

Everything has been fully resolved with the client. We are happy to fix his system once we receive confirmation from solaredge that they will in fact cover the labor cost of the repair. I wish there was a way to get them involved. Their warranty does say they will pay for the cost of labor but when you call them, they dont Specify and confirm that they will pay e full amount. We are so very sad for this client and he deserves all the service and guarantees that he was promised from solaredge. Crossing our fingers and turning over every stone until this customer is the poster child for being satisfied and delighted.
