On 3-7-2022 I entered into a contract with Cayuga Lake Construction for a 30' x 64' Pole Barn, I payed a $5,000.00 deposit with check# ### a $5,000.00. Construction began on 3-29-2022 when I paid ******** ***** *** $23,954.96 for construction materials. Verbal conversations were had regarding the delay in my construction loan and Mark D****** stated that the contract is $5,000 deposit, I pay for materials and the balance is due upon completion and my satisfaction. The build started off great, the contractor made good progress for the first week to a week and a half. Late in the second week Mark D. continued to hound me for money, every few hours while I visited the site he would almost hound me and quilt me into money, this happened for several weeks during the build. Mark D****** the owner wouldn't take checks in his Companies name only his personal name (Mark D******). I was confused, and this started to raise red flags. During the following few weeks I visited my location and found walls were up with no vapor barrier, man door with glass was not installed (installed with no glass), headers were not completed to with hold 10'x10' overhead doors etc. I finally paid Mark D****** in total $$23,000 for work performed. Since Mark as followed a Mechanics Lien on my property, falsifying documents and services rendered. I need all the help NYS has to protect consumers from going thru what I am. I've filed a compliant with Workers Comp as well as the NYS General Attorney. Mark D. refused to show proof of insurance and workers comp. the entire duration of project.
