Kohorst was hired over 1 year ago to complete repair work sustained from water damage. The bill has been paid in full since June 2023. Work is still not completed. Company owner has become extremely unresponsive to repeated text messages and phone calls. We have only actually spoken to him once since November 30, 2023 Multiple text messages have been sent, repeatedly asking for information and communication without response from him. Kitchen cabinets still need to be ordered which will in itself take weeks to come in. During a 2 hour meeting at his office on November 21, 2023 he promised that the project would bet back on track. For a short time this appeared to be the case, however, decisions were given to him regarding stain, window trim, baseboard, vanities etc and he seems to have lost this information as his workers needed to ask us for it. Vanities have not been ordered yet to my knowledge. We waited months for the cabinet company he reps to give us cupboard samples. Once they arrived, decisions were messaged to him with no reply for more than 10 days (and has still not been discussed). There is now new water damage in the house as of 2 days ago (end of 10 day period described above). We were promised details on how it would be fixed yesterday. He did not phone at 5pm as promised, did not reply to text or voicemail, sent 1 picture of a faulty manifold, no pictures of what is being done to remediate the damage. I have phoned and texted today with no response until just now as I am typing this. I informed him I was filing this complaint as we need to have this project completed and I am out of patience for his excuses. The phone call finally received from Charlie on Sunday 2/11 was probably only made as I called the insurance adjuster who recommended Kohorst to explain what was happening and could he encourage communication from the company. We have a call scheduled again today at 5pm but I am not holding out hope that he will follow through with it.

this company was hire to do repairs to our house due to a fire we had on January 30, 2022 Charles requested we ask for a direct pay from our insurance company because him and the adjuster ******* ****** stated if we had to go through the mortgage company ***** ***** it would take a very long time because ***** ***** does not like to pay out the money. I have attached the copy of the contract which states the work he would do I don't have anything in writing that he agreed to pay us the money for work my husband and I have done and are doing it was all a verbal agreement I guess that is my mistake as well.  Charles will not have his crew come back here and finish any of the work there is still mudding that needs to be finished on the drywall before it can be painted and we have no railings for the stairs and still no new chimney as well as the trim work that goes around the new stairs that where put in. I have added photo's as well showing my husband doing the work they are getting paid to and they got most of the money up front from the insurance company per his request to get pd directly a month and a half later the work is still not done.

I would like to apologize on behalf of Kohorst Custom Homes & Remodeling regarding any service issues that were not handled in a timely manner. We stand on our ability to be a trusted partner with our customers.  As a business we like to make sure all of our customers are always provided with the upmost respect and ask for the same in return.  Throughout major construction there has the potential to have an aligned experience as well as a difference of opinion on how tasks are approached as it applies to construction.  Unfortunately, we were not treated well during construction.  It became a very hostile environment with the explitives and other derogatory remarks made via messages, on-site conversation and social media.  As a trusted partner, we welcome feedback and do our very best to accommodate, however, we ask that the feedback is provided in a constructive manner so we can give you the very best product.  These interactions will prevent us from returning to such an environment.  We will make the necessary and appropriate step to resolve.

Also, as a business we want to assure that all of our work is completed at 100% and to our customers satisfaction.  Per, our contract we were able to complete nearly 90% of what was contracted plus some additonal items requested during construction.  There are solutions and accommodations that we will provide, separate from this response.  Your satisfaction is of the utmost importance and we would like to have this resolved as quickly as possible.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Regards, ****** A **** to avoid legal action he will need to bring the new chimney to us and give us a check for $39,000 and we will keep the finial check as well as we will need to hire some one else to finish the job that hire he was paid over 73,000 right up front he did not do 90% of the job because my husband had to finish the alot of it after they walked away more than a month ago he is in breach of contract because he choose to walk away we have provided his with receipts for all the stuff we have bought so far and he has never paid us for any of it. this is the only thing we will accept if he wants to avoid legal action.

Thank you for your response.  Although we can appreciate your urgency around resolving this matter, unfortunately, your ask in response to our offer is something we cannot consider.  Our previous and final proposal is the extent of what Kohorst Custom Homes & Remodeling can offer.  As stated in our response, our offer is as follows:

      - Stainless steel chimney; owner(s) would need to pick up at a neutral location and sign for the delivery.
      - A check in the sum of $4000.00 upon acceptance of the proposal.  In addition to the depreciation monies that would be paid through the insurance company to avoid a legal process.

Thank you again and wish you all of the best with your project.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 17059254, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below

I will not except the offer as we will not go anywhere to pick up the new chimney and because they refuse to deliver the supplies we have bought our new chimney from the coal shop plus we have had to buy other supplies that Kohorst custom homes has refused to buy and deliver like all the rails and spindles for the stairway that is needed to get the new C of O plus all the paint we had to buy that Charles received the money for I have a folder full of recipes for supplies he was to supply and never did which as includes the flooring and we still have buy all the trim for the stairway and Charles received money for putting the foam installation on before the Siding that was never bought and never but on. Charles claims it was a hostile environment but his crew sat at my dinner table every night and ate dinner plus Charles has not been here since day one not even to check on his crew and see that work they did. The code enforcer stated the siding has to all come off and have foam installation put so we have to pay another contract to do work that Kohorst custom homes refuses to finish and to fixed there mistakes we will not except anything other than $50,000 they up and left and refuse to finish the work and deliver supplies if our offer is not meet by Kohorst custom homes we will file legal action against him since we have hire another contract to fix there mistakes and finish the job he was paid for upfront over $73,000

      Regards,

      ****** * ****
