I contracted with Hometime in Janaury 2023. I paid $7000 up front for labor and was given a list of materials that I would be additional including two special order doors. The bulk of the job was a roof repair and siding replacement. The roof job was completed quickly. The rest the job was worked on in bits and pieces over the next 9 months. I was asked to pay for more materials but was never given and itemized list of what was purchased and at what cost. Some on the original materials list were never purchased. His workers were slow and sloppy, even taking long lunches that they prepared using my BBQ grill, and leaving trash all over my yard. After that Andy said he did not want any more money and he would just finish the job. The last worker to show ups was to finish the trim. I warned Hometime that there was not enough trim board to finish the job, and was assured it would be taken care of. No material showed up so the trim worker used scraps to piece together the job. In the end it looked like he left in a hurry, leaving the job unfinished and done horribly wrong. A screen door he was supposed to install was left scatted about the lawn in pieces. All subsequent calls and texts to Hometime (Andy) have gone unanswered. Job not completed, house left with open gaps to the interior just in time for winter.

A very sorry for how Mr. ***** feels as he knows the gentleman I had working for me that started the job no longer works for me. I had a major medical issue this winter and I’m just getting back to work. I was not able to work for at least three months Just bare minimum obviously if he called me, I would’ve returned his call. The last text he gave me was. He was very upset with me so I didn’t even request any more payments from him. We did agree on a price and it was not $10,000 but I’m not gonna quibble over dollars , if he’s unhappy, I will take care of whatever issue it is please feel free to set an appointment the first week of April and we will be up there to finish any list of items request The phone number that I had is just for advertising purposes it does not accept texts, so maybe that’s why I was not able to communicate with him. I thought we were done there but like I said, he needs more than 100% happy to take care of it.

In Mr. Branley's response he offered to fix the job that was never finished.  I have seen Hometime's work and I no longer want them working on my house.  His claim that he would have responded to me if I called is disingenuous at best.  I called and texted the same number we had been communicating with for the past year,  I have all the texts, including his last one that acknowledged the poor work, mentioned his medical issues, but said he would go up and check on it.  That never happened.  He was sent the same pictures that are in my complaint so he knows the job was not completed.  I have kept all the texts and paperwork incase this ended in small claims court.

Since October, I had to do some of the work myself to close up the house to the elements, and started repairing the shoddy work.  What I would like is a refund of $1000 to reimburse me for what I have already spent, and to replace what I will have remove to fix what Hometime has done.

I contracted with Hometime because I did not have time to do the work myself and expected finished before the summer.  Instead the job remained unfinished with construction debris and garbage in the yard.  I cleaned up their trash, and pre-painted the siding to assist in speeding the job, yet my summer home still was left un-sided for the entire vacation season.

Response taken by phone:  I gave a good deal to begin with I am very sorry I was not able to complete the job myself as things would have been done much differently.  For this reason, I am not pursuing the remaining balance which is worth well over $1000.  If he wants me to finish it I will deduct the $1000 from the remaining balance.

HomeTime's offer to forgive $1000 they say I owe them, is ridiculous.  Andy said he did not want any more money from me because of the aggravation the job caused me. He said he just wanted to complete the job and move on.  The job was never finished, bags of trash are still my yard because they froze to the ground, and my special order screen door was damaged and left strewn about the yard.  I do not want HomeTime to work on my house.  I can do the balance of the work myself, I just want them to supply the material, since I have to remove and replace the amateurish cut and past job they did. If Andy had any interest in protecting his professional reputation he would have come by and seen the mess his workers left.  He is working in the area and can make amends by supplying me with 60' of 3 1/2" Azek trim board.

I will finish the siding, trim, screen door installation, and painting.  If we can at least agree to that then I will no longer pursue this matter.  If not, I will begin exercising other options.

      Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Mr. Branley's offer to forgive my balance of $1000 is ridiculous.  He had stated that he did not want any more money but just wanted to finish the job and move on after all the aggravation his workers caused.  I am not sure how he can come up with any figure since his accounting and the way he runs his business leave much to be desired.

Mr. Branley told me he pays his worker $40/hour.  I spent 2 days priming and painting the siding that he purchased in 2 batched because his miscalculated the first time.  I only did this to speed up a job that was moving very slowly.  That would be two 6 hour days at $40/hour, equals $480, then the $300 he said he removed from my balance because of all the demolition debris and personal garbage I have to remove from my front yard.  Which was an empty promise because I had no idea what the balance was at that point.  I also worked a full day installing the special order screen door that was left scattered across my lawn, and had to buy replacement parts for what was lost or damaged--another $350 in labor and materials.  As it is, more that a year after the job was started I still need to repair the and finish the trim work (pictures submitted in first complaint), in addition to buying all the materials to do so.  So the work I have done for Mr. Branley and the messes his workers have left me are worth well beyond any imaginary balance I have.

I am not asking Mr. Branley for a refund, I just want him to supply the trim materials so that I can finish the job myself.  Material that he should have supplied to his employee who tried to finish the job using scraps, and left even before that was done, never to return.

Andy said to me that he hates when workers (his) take advantage of nice people (me and my family), but in the end that is exactly what he himself has done.  I am a patient and tolerant man, but this has been way to much for me to ignore.

      Regards,

      ***** *****
