In August 2020 we contracted to have the driveway removed and replaced per the contract with Mike, the company owner. The driveway had drainage problems and was sinking in the center. County Wide Paving came to do the job, and when they had the driveway pulled up, the foreman, Brian insisted that we pay an additional $2050.00 for an "additional 'binder'" to complete the job. There are two products used when building any driveway/road/parking lot, asphalt binder and asphalt top. We were stuck! We paid the company the additional money and he did a terrible job with the finish of the driveway. I called the business owner to come and look at the job, to complain about the finish and the additional money. We have been trying to get the owner to do the right thing and fix the driveway and refund the overpayment for the last three years, to no avail.

Had drive way redone last year by County Wide. Followed up to get the sealcoat estimate and for them to review a few issue areas that had become noticeable in under a year. Attempted to call several times with no responses. Someone came out but only provided an estimate for the sealcoat on 6/30/2023. This delay pushed us past our year warranty. We reached out in email 7/10 (intentionally after the July holiday) indicating we were expecting someone to review the trouble areas. We were told someone would be out the week following and would call us the day before however, we were never contacted. After calling several times and eventually leaving a message indicating our frustration and that we were considering a formal escalation. We were called back and was told by operator they would honor our warranty and would send someone out to review our concerns on 8/21 at 9 am. Michael and another person arrived timely and began to do a sealcoat estimate unaware they were there to review our concerns and let me know that where there was a patch to join roller lines would fixed by the sealcoat, however there were two areas they expressed concern with: Significant crumbling by the garage doors (indicating too lightly applied) and no path put between the roller paths toward the middle and bottom of the driveway. Could see it was becoming very uneven already. Next step told to me was that they needed to discuss with County Wide to determine next steps and they would be in touch but we did not hear back. Followed up, was told the sealcoat would fix it by a "Brian". From Email: As for a proposed resolution: I would be happy to meet with you or another member of the team and walk me through how the sealcoat would fix these issues so I can understand better. After that I would be happy to move forward with the sealcoat assuming we add to the contract that these areas will be resolved. Have been unable to contact since issue was acknowledged in person

We had our full driveway paved and added on an additional driveway in Sept of 2022, we paid $16,000 for the job. Per the company website " We back our work with a 1-year guarantee." We contacted the business in March regarding a few repairs needing to be done including cracks, lack of blacktop in some spots, crumbling, and sinking in a few spots. Brian answered they would cover the cost of repairs if they sealed the driveway which we agreed to. After communicating back and fourth we decided on Monday July 17th for the repairs and seal to be done, Brian stated he penciled us in. There was a forecasted storm coming in Monday night so he wanted to confirm appointment on the Sunday the 16th. Brian did not reconfirm my appointment on Sunday and never showed up on Monday. Since then I've reached out via text again late July with no response and August 14th with no response. My husband and I also called and left several messages during that time with no response. August 31st we reached out asking if they were still in business he responded yes we are on Sept 1st. Again we responded asking if the repairs will be done and if we can get on the books. He then did not answer again. He has not returned our calls or answered any messages since Sept 1st and our repairs and seal coating is not done. We are very unhappy with the company. As I stated before the company website offers a 1-year guarantee on the driveway and we've been reaching out for months with no response.

Had our driveway repaved by Countywide Paving in September for $7000.00. First they didn’t have the right equipment to dig out in front of the garage door. They had to chop & use a skid steerer to clear the area. Started paving & halfway through they realized they didn’t have enough asphalt to finish the job. After locating the boss they sent a truck to the plant to get more asphalt. More than an hour later they came back saying the plant was closed for the day. They proceeded to stretch the existing product , which we didn’t realize. Because of the 2 hour delay the asphalt had cooled. This spring we noticed the surface had started to crumble & realized they had only put down 1/2”layer of asphalt instead of 2” specified in the contract. Call them they said they would be in the area soon. Heard nothing for a month. We called them & they sent Chad a salesman. He said it wasn’t right & someone would becoming to redo it. No one came, after 3 weeks called them again & Brian(owner) said they would come & put on additional paving (over crumbling pavement!!!) for $3000.00 additional payment. My husband said this was not acceptable & Brian the owner hung up on my husband. Don’t know if this is a duplicate, on Wednesday it didn’t seem to go through.Thank you for your time concerning this matter.

Michael From Business relayed to BBB:

Last fall we paved the driveway.  They called in the spring.  They were having some issues with the driveway.   I said I would stop by and check it out.  The driveway was weird.  Pictures were taken.  He called and spoke with Ashley.  He said that the same person who sold him the driveway knocked on his door and convinced him to seal coat it.  It clearly states in the contract you cannot do that.  That you have to wait.  That only our business can seal the driveway.  He insisted that the same person who sold him the driveway that knocked on his door.  I told him I sold him the driveway and I never came to his house.  It wasn't me.  We wouldn't just show up.  Whatever they used for sealer did not work.  Now it's not holding.  I asked him why did he let someonce do that.  I asked him who did it.  He was not given a receipt and he does not know.  I told him that we could start the project over, give him the same driveway as before, and that we could repave the driveway at cost which would be $3,000.00.  He got upset.  It wasn't my business that cause the damage and I was just trying to help.  I cannot just give something away when it isn't my fault the driveway was damaged.

      claim #******* countywide paving

countywide paving keeps using the excuse of someone else sealed our driveway as the reason the contact is voided. In your response July 19 you refer to yourself as Michael& that you sold us the driveway, but the person who quoted the $7000.00 was a tall skinny youngman named MiCHAEL. who Ashley identified later. When the job was finished a guy named Brian who had been sitting in a white unmarked truck came up to us with a bill & gladly took our $7000.00 CASH from us.Michael had said the owner was his grandfather. He was the same guy who a few weeks later came & said we should sealcoat it before winter for a price of &350.00. he proceeded to sealcoat it.

If Brian is such a reputable contractor why hasn"t he personally come to inspect it. He on June 8 sent Chad here & he took pictures & gave us a copy of a report stating REPAIR DRIVEWAY. SEALCOAT AFTER At the bottom of the page is a figure of $486.00.

As to us threatening him, if you call saying we would get a lawyer, he also said he would too & hung up on us.We have every right to consult the BBB & the attorney general of NY CONCERNING THIS MATTER.Your company has been taken off of the accredited companies as of this March due to other peoples complaints.
It all boils down to them not having enough asphalt to complete the job & them waiting for more, than 2hrs only to find the plant was closed for the night. This kept the asphalt that was in the hopper to cool. They then proceeded to put down only one half inch of product to make it stretch.
The contract clearly states 2" of asphalt to be applied.

around in March we noticed the pavement breaking up revealing the one half inch of product had been used.
Them claiming that Michael who gave us the origniall quote & applied the seal coat didn"t work for them is totally false.
applying the seal did not compromise the job the one half inch of asphalt not two inches was the problem from the beginning.

Countywide paving keeps using the excuse of someone else sealcoating our driveway as Their company has been taken off th to look the reason the contract was voided. In your response dated July 18 you refer to yourself as Michael, who did quote us the $7000.00 price. He was a tall skinny young man who said his  right grandfather owned the company. The guy who sat in his unmarked white truck came up to us with the bill after the job was completed he signed it Brian a totally different person from this young man. Brian gladly took our $7000.00 CASH. The young man later called Michael by Ashley came back a few weeks later suggesting we sealcoat it before winter & quoted $350.00. We said okay because he was the original person who quoted the $7000.00 price. If Brian is such a reputable contractor why hasn’t he personally come here to see the driveway. On June 8 he sent Chad to look at it. He took pictures & gave us a sheet saying repair driveway & sealcoat with the figure of $486 on it. As to us threatening him,if you call saying we would be consulting a lawyer he stated the same & hung up.We have every right to consult theBBB & the attorney general concerning this matter. Your company has been taken off the BBB accredited list this March for complaints from other people. It all boils down to them not laying the  quoted 2” of asphalt due to realizing they didn’t have enough asphalt to complete the job thus stretching it & only putting down 1/2” which is clearly visible now. When they knew they were running out of product they proceeded to send a truck to the asphalt plant which they found out was closed for the night. This left the remaining asphalt sitting for 2 hrs getting cold. This is obviously when they decided to thin out thr layer. Sealcoating did not cause the problem it was the 1/2” only that was put down. This caused the driveway to crumble by this spring.

There seems to be a lot of names, dates and now new punch lines to the story regarding an asphalt plant being closed, cold asphalt, a white unmarked pickup truck etc. We both have receipts from when the driveway was paved and we're asking again for the receipt after the driveway was seal coated. We give receipts for ALL transactions. Until this receipt is supplied we really have nothing further to say.

We received a phone call from these folks and can't find them in our system. They also said the driveway was completed in 2019. We explained that if we did do the driveway 2 years ago the one year warranty would have expired.
