On Monday 4/15/2024 I contacted Chris, an employee of Jamie S****** at EJ Automotive on the phone and discussed some noises I was hearing coming from my 1993 ********* *** Conversion van. I Expressed to him that I was on the verge of ordering a new remanufactured engine for the van and that I just wanted them to give it a good look over and diagnose exactly where my issues were coming from and he agreed to spend an hour or two maximum looking over the vehicle and then said he would contact me with any repair recommendations that they found. I made the appointment for Thursday Morning with a Wednesday evening drop off, which I did. Friday 4/19/24 at about 10:45 I called into E J Automotive and spoke again with Chris. This time I was checking in with him to see if they had any chance to drive and look at my vehicle to which he replied yes I have and I'm about to take Jamie out for another drive so he can hear it to see what his thoughts are. He then explained that he had found a broken alternator bracket and a worn belt along with a worn idler pulley. He explained that he replaced those parts and had the bracket repaired and reinstalled. HE claimed that they were almost done with the truck and he would call me back later in the day. At 2:30 he called me to tell me that the van was "all Fixed" and that I owed them $1,333.00 for the repairs. I asked, "why wasn't I called and informed of an estimate for repairs and given the chance to approve or deny them"? He claimed my dropping the vehicle off to their shop and my verbal word on the phone on Monday 4/15 was good enough. I had no intention of having them repair anything, I wanted estimates to verify what I already knew. I complained to Jamie S******, the owner and he said, well I'm sorry but I gave you a break on the labor charges and figured you'd be happy we fixed it and it didn't need a new engine.
