Several months ago Four Winds gave us estimate for $5,778. We thought the estimate was a little high but they explained that the chimney needed excessive work and they needed a man lift to install the stainless cap from N.C. The installer decided to carry the stainless steel cap on his shoulder up the ladder, which is a 25 foot stretch. He was supposed to use the man lift. They showed us pictures of the concrete that needed to be replaced, so decided to get the work done. Several weeks later they appeared without the lift and did the chimney work. The original estimate was to take between 4 to 8 hours. They were actually here 2.5 hours. When we asked to see the after pictures as promised, they were not able to produce the pictures of the concrete cap repair. That was supposed to be replaced but was not. When we called to complain they gave us $1,000 back because the lift was not used. At the time we told them that the whole process was unsafe, they agreed. I told them that I could have calked the top myself but they said it needed to be replaced. It was calked by them and not replaced. I told them I still wanted pictures of cap work. They said they didn’t have them. Called them and told them I wanted them to come and verify the work. They said they would, in a few days, that was November 4th, and I still have not heard from them.

Hello ****,I wanted to first apologize for the inconvenience this project has caused you and your wife. I gave you a call to discuss your complaint. I did go back on our notes we have in your profile and saw that you and Nathaniel spoke on either the 3rd or the 4th of November. It seems to me we have dropped the ball with coming out to take a look at the repair. I am unable to speak with Nathaniel as he is on vacation until Wednesday. I would like to have him come out and inspect the repairs and cap. As for the job photos, it is standard protocol for us to take photos throughout the job. Ironically, Ryan who was your repair technician takes the most photos out of any repair crews in our company. Unfortunately, on your job he fell short on that. I did speak with him and he did say he did repair the crown. But again, I do want Nathaniel to come out and inspect. Nathaniel also did note in your profile that he wanted to come out as well and that is what you two agreed upon. As for replacing the crown/cap I did see in your estimate it noted repairing and resurfacing, not replacing. I will have to check with Nathaniel once he gets back. As for the length of the job, I will again have to talk with Nathaniel and my boss about discounting further. This is top on my list, I do want a resolution for you with this project. I would like to make this right and hopefully a chance to regain trust with this.  Looking forward to hearing from you. - Maria V******************* *** ****

Better Business Bureau:   I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, this solution won't be able to be resolved until the weather improves. Possibly next spring 2023. They did admit that the work was not done according to the work promised so i was satisfied with their response. I do not consider this case closed until the work promised is completed.  Regards,  **** *******
