In June 2022 I paid $1500 cash for garage exterior paint and prep. When Judson started that project in July, we added a second project which was exterior prep/paint on rear of home (trim, soffits, siding, staircase). I paid $1,850 cash for that project. He told me at that time that both projects would be complete within 2-3 days (by the end of the week at least), and for that reason I paid the full amount that week. He started both projects and never finished either of them. Every week I would text to ask when he would be back to finish and he would say “end of the week,” but he’d never show up or even call/text to say he wasn’t coming. This went on week after week until October. By mid October I told him it was getting too cold soon for outdoor paint and that I’d have to finish it myself if he didn’t. Not only because the half completed job looked atrocious, but importantly because there was bare wood exposed on the window trim where his trim tape had pulled off the existing paint and this could not be left exposed over winter. On garage he left ~1/3 the backside undone, under soffits undone, and left paint all over the windows. On house he didn’t do the trim and left house color overspray all over trim, paint blotches all over stairs, and he took down eave over door to paint it and left it in the yard. He has stopped responding to my requests for completion or reimbursement at this point. Months have passed now and it is clear he has no intention to finish. I’ve now (this week) begun to finish the job myself. I am seeking a refund of 1/3 the total price paid, which comes to $1,117. Will take to court if not resolved here.
