Transaction Date: November 2, 2023 Amount Paid: $8,742.33 Commitment: complete roof replacement Dispute: They ripped off part of my garage roof without a permit or insurance. Didn’t replace it. They brought materials to my house, and kept coming back and removing them - I think they were using them on different jobs. Materials they had on-site, they left exposed to the elements. My neighbor had to come over and cover them with a tarp because they left them open. Code enforcement posted a notice (2nd notice) to stop work. Company asked me for more money to pay their insurance to obtain a permit, after we paid nearly $9K up front. We ended the contract with them because they didn’t have any of the necessary paperwork and asked for our money back. Company said they would pay us back, but we haven’t received anything. Company picked up remaining materials to get money back, but left all of their garbage and debris in my driveway, yard, and front porch. They never came back to clean it up. Small interior water damage because of roof being left open. Company is no longer responding to messages or calls. We’re afraid they just stole $9,000 from us. This is a company with an A rating on BBB. How can this be?

In April 2023, I hired Jason Raymond (SAW Construction) due to a leak in my roof. He gave me two options: (1) fix the leaking area exclusively; or (2) do a complete roof replacement. I chose the second option, the scope of which included installation of a ridge vent and reinforcement of the interior structures (purlins, rafters, etc.). After the job had been started, I asked him to clean out the attic and install more insulation, which was additional work that he quoted and invoiced. Jason gave an estimated duration of one week, but failed to complete the work within that timeframe. While more than half of the work has been completed, SAW Construction left the work unfinished since June 2023, especially the work on the interior structures. Furthermore, the new roof began leaking in two new areas. Jason fixed one of them, but the other persisted, which was the point in time that Jason stopped showing up to my home altogether. I made additional efforts to contact Jason, but he became unreachable by phone after we last spoke on June 15th. Text exchanges continued until his last reply on July 9th. I continued to call and text until September 7th and August 7th respectively. At that time, I decided to have another roofing company inspect the roof and fix the persisting leak - among other instances of poor workmanship - thereby incurring additional repair costs. Other complaints: * Loose nails left under shingles * Ridge vent not nailed in properly into decking, which is also too short * Broken light fixtures * Lots of debris left on lawn and in gutters

To be honest, I have no excuses for this. Bad employees on the job. Had bad people in my life at that point. People pretty much did everything wrong, no matter what I did right. It was chaotic, mostly because you have to learn that some people don't belong. It was a rough lesson, I apologize I did not know how to handle those people and that circumstance better at the time. You don't know until you do, I have corrected all of those problems and removed all the unnecessary people. We are proud to say, we have much more reliable help and things are going well. This job was horrible, Ive never seen so much I had to correct. To be honest I would not be surprised if you found much more wrong than I had already corrected with many trips. My ex gf asked me to hire the guy on this job, to be honest I feel like he did it all intentionally. I removed like 30 loose nails under the shingles. Made like 30 corrections that looked intentional. Busted lights that were no where near where we were hammering. So I think he intentionally smashed those. Worst employee ever, not to mention this guy does all this. While my gf at the time was being the most outlandish crazy nut bag you ever met. It was nuts, you can't even explain such a level of chaos, im appalled at this job entirely. It was the worst, probably intentional attempt at destroying someone's business that I've ever seen. I will gladly work out an arrangement with the customer, I know a lot happened here that was just not right. If he could forward the bill from the other company, we will gladly figure this out. I wish I had more to offer other than, I'm sorry. I just didn't realize people could be so intentionally destructive and problematic. I've made it out of that trap, and alive and well. We are doing great, and will continue to do amazing work. Now more intelligent than the destructive nature of most people, and ready to show you how this is really done. They tried, they failed. I won't let anyone stop us from creating the amazing company I know we are already becoming.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. SAW Construction (Jason) stated in their response that they are willing to resolve this complaint, but did not actually provide a solution. I assume their intended next step was direct communication with me. Jason asked that I send a copy of the bill from the alternate company that did the remedial repairs, which I will not share for now. However, I will divulge the total cost of the repairs was more than what Jason and I agreed upon for the work that Jason was supposed to do.  Regards,  ****** *******
