I contacted Superior New Set Concrete & Masonry ***** Attention *********************,In early May of 2021, to repair masonry damage below a window, and to install Waterproofing to the wall in need of repair, and the 2 ( two ) adjoining walls in my boiler room, to eliminate the leaching of effervescence, for a cost of $3,500.00 in cash.Work started on Monday May 10,2021, at which time a $2,000.00 deposit was given in cash. Work was completed on Tuesday May 11, 2021, at which time payment in full, $1,500.00 in cash, was given to the subcontractor, **** DeTomia of Ro-An Contracting. With days of completion, the effervescence returned, and mold growth appeared on all 3 ( three ) walls. I emailed ***, the prime contractor along with photos of the current conditions, explaining that mold was never an issue, and asked him to come back and look at the work preformed. After weeks of emails, He did return with the sub contractor, and installed additional waterproofing, on July 7, 2021. Problems

      Business response

      08/26/2021

Upon first site inspection in May 2021 we informed ********************* that water was coming through the basement walls from the outside which would require costly excavation work in the range of $ ********* - $ 12,000.00.  He was informed that would be the only way to correct the problem. **************** informed us that he was selling the house and did not want to spend that kind of money.  We told him that we can do whatever we can to try and remedy the problem but there are no guarantees that it would work.  I went back there numerous times with **** from Ro-An Contracting and did everything we possibly could to remedy the problem.  **************** was not ignored in any way.  Again, we went back there several time to do our best to rectify the situation.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Superior New Set Concrete &  Masonry returned after 6 weeks of emails, and complaints, and spent approximately 3 hours installing additional product. That was listed in my original complaint.

Since there return, the conditions have not only returned, they have worsened, and have now created a MOLD condition, which is a health concern for me and my family.

I was instructed to spray solution  of bleach and water to the affected areas, which is not a resolve.

There was never a discussion of no guarantee . Who would spend $3,500.00 in cash to have work preformed on there home with out a guarantee.

There were never any return trips as quoated by the contractor, other than  July 7, 2021. I have been emailing every week with photos showing the degrading conditions, and have gotten replays such as *** is out of the office, *** is very busy etc),
As per ***, I was told that there company stands behind there work and that there is a one year guarantee on the work preformed. I have that in writing.
At this point, I do not trust Superior New Set Concrete & Masonry, Inc.

There are months of emails on file, with my complaints.

I have been taken advantage of, and there terrible work, still needs to be resolved.

I am requesting a full refund of $3,500.00.

I am also in contact with the ********************** Affairs in regards to this matter.

I am also in contact with an attorney who, at my request will file a claim with small claims court.

Myself and **** will come back and do whatever it takes to rectify the problem.  As you were told, water will keep seeping through unless you excavate from the outiside.  We have been in business a very long time and never had one complaint.  That must say something about the way we operate.  Those stains are water stains and not mold.  The materials we used are top of the line products for waterproofing and stains.   Again, we will do what it takes to rectify the problem with no additional expenses incurred.  You received quotes from other contractors which coincide with what we said, which is you must waterproof on the outside of the foundation wall to rectify the problem which is quite costly.  We will be happy to re-do the sections that we did before.

      Respectfully,

      *********************

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I have been emailing the company, along with photos of the deteriorating conditions for months.

I do not trust the company. There work has failed 2x. What would they do now that wasnt done originally, to eliminate the conditions that I hired them for? There is a mold condition that exists, not water spots, which is a health hazard to me and my family.

my home is not for sale. I have received other proposals, which were never discussed with Superior Masonry, and include different approaches to eliminate the deteriorating conditions. I still need to spend more money to fix the issues.

I am completely dissatisfied with Superior Mansonry.

      There work is unexceptionable.

I am again requesting a full refund of $3,500.00 in cash.
