In January of 2013 ********************************************* was hired to replace a water heater in my mother's home. They left the permit open with the city. In 2020 We put my mother's home on the market for sale and found that the permit was still open. We contacted ********************************************* and the city of ********************, where the home is located, attempting to close the permit so that clear title could be transferred. We decided not to sell at that time. This summer we have again placed my mother's home on the market for sale and the sale cannot close until the permit is closed. After my 63 year old mother spoke to them on the phone at least 6 times, they convinced her, without looking at anything in the home or stepping foot on the property, that she would have to pay them $700 for them to close the permit and possibly pay her $2000 more after they looked at it. On 9/17/2024 they came to the home to meet the inspector so that he could close the permit. The inspector came and said he is not the correct inspector, that the plumbing company had to call the plumbing inspector for the city. ***************************** left with no resolution. That night, my mother and I both received emails that they would visit the home again the next day. After waiting for them to show up for 3.5 hours, I called and asked dispatch if they would be arriving. They were unable to give me any information, said someone would call me back, and hung up the phone on me. At 1:29 pm on 9/18/24, I received a call from the office. The woman said she has no new information and didnt know why I received multiple notifications that they would come back. She also offered no information and only said she would call me when they schedule the inspector to come out. Additional, if my mother is forced to breach the contract of sale on her home due to the negligence of the plumbing company, my mother stands to lose far more than $700.

Bruni & Campisi returned to the property in question and completed a final inspection in conjunction with the city of ******************** on 9/25/2024. City of New ******** inspector, *** ******, advised that the permit would closed out by end-of-day on 9/25/2024.

**** ********* submitted a $725 deposit on 8/30/2024 for the legalization of a water heater installed by others. The full cost of the legalization with the addition of a required expansion tank is $2,438.77, leaving a balance of $1,713.77.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: The inspector confirmed that all that was needed for legalization was a sharkbite fitting and the permit could have been close out four years ago, had Bruni & Campsi shown up to the appointment then. The expansion tank was not necessary, my mother was coerced into hiring Bruni & Campisi to do that work.  The inspector also confirmed, that work was not done properly as it is missing screws.  It is still missing screws.

**** ********* contracted Bruni & Campisi to assist in the legalization of a water heater that was installed without permit by others at her home. Based on the initial inspection by the city of ********************, corrections were required to close out a permit. Corrections included the removal of illegal piping on the water supply lines, properly securing the carbon monoxide exhaust flue piping, and adding a thermal expansion tank as per code. No work outside of that necessary to meet requirements to pass an inspection was proposed or executed.

Bruni & Campisi scheduled a technician to return to **** *********** home and install the 3x screws necessary to complete the permit close out on 9/27/2024. **** ****** advised Bruni & Campisi representatives that the scheduled time was not suitable and that she'd prefer the work be performed on 10/2/2024. A technician is scheduled to complete the work then.

the correction that was necessary to legalize the water heater was the installation of a shark bite fitting. ***** & Campisi would know that, had they shown up to the inspection 4 years ago. They did not. The only correspondence they had w the inspector before convincing my mother to hire them to do more work was to tell the inspector they would not be showing up to the inspection.

Bruni and Campisi installed my new boiler on April 15. After the installation the tech, represneing Bruni and Campisi came to check the connection, and told us the the installation is done correctly. A week later on April 21, the boiler stopped working. There was not heat, and no hot water. Bruni and Campisi sent an emergency tech, who concluded that there is no oil in the tank, and therefore the boiler stopped working. On April 22nd I called our oil company, and was told that the oil was deliverd on March 2, and there is no way we could have used 550 gallons of oil for lesss that a month. I called B&C and explained to the that the issue isnt the oil tank, butsomething else. I was told by dispatcher, named *****, and that he promised that he will send someone to inspect. He did not keep his promise. I contacted Friednly Fuel, who used to service our old boiler, and thetech determined that the problem is the wrong connection of pies to the boiler, which was done by B&C. Frienly Fuel made the right connection, and the boiler started to work properly. We end up paing $566.26 to Friednly Fuel because of the B&C craftmanship failure.
