I bought a computer from Staples in 2020. I bought the Asurion protection plan. When my plan expired, I bought a new one to continue to cover my computer, 4/13/2023. My hard drive was corrupted. I brought it in, the sales manager and I filed a form for Asurion to fix it as per their plan. During the course of sending in paperwork, they demanded an original recpt. of the computer. It was destroyed in a flood. The service person with Asurion said no problem since I bought the plan. After many back and forth calls when emails denied my form, I finally got a recpt. I sent it in. Then they said wrong recpt. Many calls again, they said, Oh yes, we will now fix it. During each call I said I wanted my hard drive back when they fix the computer. I was assured it will be sent back. I get the computer back with NO HARD DRIVE. I call the presidents of *******. They agree to the treatment and poor service of Asurion. They intervened on my behalf. July 17, 2023 Staples calls me back. Asurion was sending a check for $109 to me. I was not asked if this was ok, just a decision was made. I called President's ****** back in Aug. after realizing it will cost me a lot to replace programs, not data, programs to enter my data that was lost, for more than $109. Asurion called and said it is not part of the program to send back the hard drive. I said what about money to replace the Windows program, Norton, and other programs to get the computer up and running again. Asurion said that is not covered. I am completely unsatisfied with the outcome. When sold this program to someone of my age, I felt they would treat me with respect and be helpful.Customer response
