Tricked me as a new home owner into signing a contract for a tax year that should have been for the previous owners. Lied to us about how they filed. Complained when we filed FOIL request with the state, because they couldn't provide us any documentation on how they filed. They assured us that they would use our purchase as a comp, but they used 0 comps and put no information about our home in the filing whatsoever, and put a $20k value. Rude and evasive. Complete scam. The fact that our laws permit this type of business to make money in these unethical ways is a massive problem, and as attorneys, they know it and aim to capitalize by keeping customers ignorant, in order to ******* them out of their money.

    Assessment Review Consultants, LLC Response

In response to the complaint dated January 9, ****, the facts will show they SIGNED contracts for 3 SUCCESSFUL tax appeals, they SAVED over $8,200 IN TAXES and all of the appeals had DOCUMENATION from the county as PROOF of the results. A brief history of their 3 tax appeals are as follows:THE 20***** TAX APPEAL:When being advised of the sale of their home from our clients- the former owners - we provided them with transfer forms at their request. In Nassau County, tax appeals take 2 years to process and its customary for a seller to start the appeal and transfer it to the buyer upon the sale of the home. ALL TAX CONSULTANTS provide transfers for tax appeals to ease this transition. We NEVER tricked anyone into signing any forms. This appeal was VERY SUCCESSFUL resulting in a tax savings of over $2,400. We sent them PROOF of the results with the HEARING OFFICERS DECISION and a detailed invoice showing the savings. The decision, acts like a court order and directs the County to correct the tax bills. Despite their signed contract for the ***** appeal agreeing to pay within 30 days of the invoice, payment was not made until 2 months after the due date. We NEVER charged any interest or late fees despite their delinquent payment. THE 20***** TAX APPEAL:This appeal was also VERY SUCCESSFUL resulting in a tax savings of over $580. We sent them PROOF of the results with the countys FINAL DETERMINATION and a detailed invoice showing the savings. The DETERMINATION, acts like a court order and directs the County to correct the tax bills. Despite their signed contract for the ***** appeal agreeing to pay within 30 days of the invoice, payment was not made until 4 months after the due date. We NEVER charged any interest or late fees despite their delinquent payment. THE 20***** TAX APPEAL:This appeal they DEMANDED that we not accept anything less than a 20% reduction in their assessment. We ACHIEVED a 25% REDUCTION which is the MAXIMUM REDUCTION - you can achieve for a residential claim in Nassau County. We advised them of the offer and they were very excited about the offer stating this is great news and pressing us to confirm that the reduction was being processed. ( Jan 20, 2022 string of emails). This SUCCESSFUL appeal resulted in a tax savings of over $5,100. We sent them PROOF of the results with the countys FINAL DETERMINATION and a detailed invoice showing the savings. The DETERMINATION, acts like a court order and directs the County to correct the tax bills. Despite their signed contract for the ***** appeal agreeing to pay within 30 days of the invoice- they were now seeking ways to breach the contract and avoid paying the fee entirely. It was only 6 MONTHS after the due date of the invoice; that they illegally sent a **** request to the county for a copy of our work product. The **** law and any **** request apply SOLELY TO GOVENMENTAL AGENCIES not private companies and it was an egregious error for the county to provide it and illegal for them to seek it. They were well aware of the fact, but were desperate to void the contract in some way so as to avoid paying our fee. The information they received from the county illegally- they did not understand -and so they assume the worst and disparage the company despite 3 successful appeals! The filing done by ALL NASSAU COUNTY REPRESENTATIVES - unlike individual homeowners- is electronically using computer coded language. The county requests that it be filed this way, in accordance with their rules and regulations, because the county gets over 250, 000 appeals and needs to process them expeditiously in a span of 2 months with a limited staff. It is not the only communications or materials exchanged with the county only the initial filing. The reason we ask for $20,000 market value is to PROTECT the homeowner because if their home were to suffer a fire during the appeal process we can ensure that we seek a bigger tax savings. Since, you cannot get more from the county than what is requested in the initial application. Despite these FACTS, they chose to make erroneous assumptions and false accusations against our company to try and void the contract. Finally, 6 months after the due date of the invoice - payment was made. Again, we NEVER charged any interest or late fees despite their delinquent payment. Weve acted in accordance with the county rules, and their signed contracts and continually communicated to them throughout the process the DOCUMENTATION is REAL , the SAVINGS is REAL, the only ones trying to pull a ******* is them to avoid paying our fee.
