I purchased a 10 month old puppy from above breeder on 7/28. On 8/2/21 I contacted my vet to schedule a new puppy visit and accepted the first appointment of 9/17. At the 9/21 the vet contacted me stating that the blood work came back positive for Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis and Heartworm. I contacted the breeder that same day to inform her and ask her for any vet records she has on the dog. She informed me that because she is a breeder she performs here own treatment and that her dogs and puppies are not seen by a vet. The vet determined that had the puppy been given proper veterinary care, the heartworm could have been diagnosed prior to my purchase of her. Pursuant to the NY Agricultural and Markets Law AGM 400-407 a pet dealer must have a dually licensed Veterinarian inspect the dog prior to the sale for the identification of any diseases. Furthermore, the dealer must also ensure all inoculations are given prior to the sale. I had the dog vaccinated for Rabies on 8/7.

To whom it concern; I would first like to inform your agency The G****** Family @ Shindy Ridge is not a business. However, I have reviewed your information and will briefly respond to this complaint.
My family and I have participated in activities with canines for over thirty years. Events such as AKC point shows, local AKC sanctioned matches, agility trials, Obedience classes and Competitions. We have been members in our local kennel club and my children members of the youth 4-H canine club. We occasionally breed our dogs offering less than 25 puppies a year to individuals wanting family companions.
****** ******** contacted me after seeing an old ad I had placed about a few of our puppies, she was in search of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. We did not have any puppies, although we had a 10 month old female born on our farm that I initially intended on keeping but plans had changed. ****** was interested in her and proceeded to make arrangements to purchase her.
She was told the dog had her puppy vaccinations and a scheduled appointment on the upcoming Saturday, July 31st to receive her rabies vaccine. ****** was asked if she could meet the dog the following Monday, Aug 1st. Her reply was the only day she was available was Wednesday, July 28th. And she would have the vaccine administered by her fabulous vet that she would take her to - that she loved her vet! And the fact the dog would be spayed there as well. I agreed with this arrangement. The dog not having her rabies vaccine at the time of purchase is now one of ****** ********'s complaints.
Upon the purchase of this dog ****** ******** received two contracts. The first was an Adoption Agreement stating if the dog didn't acclimate to a new home within a month the dog could be returned. The second contract, a health guarantee disclosing a time period of five weeks in which to have the dog examined by a veterinarian. This is three weeks beyond what The New York State Puppy Lemon Law grants.
"We recommend that you have your pup examined by your veterinarian within 4 weeks. Should your puppy fail your veterinarian's exam, you must contact us immediately, return the puppy with verified proof from your Veterinarian to arrange for a replacement or refund of the purchase price ONLY of your puppy. No exchange will be made after a five (5) week period."

My primary complaint is not the lack of rabies vaccine being administered prior to purchase. My complaint is that I was given a defective dog as determined by the veterinary paperwork attached. Had the dog been given proper veterinarian care prior to the sale of her, the Heartworm would have been detected. If picking her up on the only day I was available was an issue, Penny G****** could have told me it was not possible.  Furthermore, I am also concerned about the sale of other animals by Shindy Ridge/Penny G****** as she has admitted, in writing, that her puppies do not get any veterinary care. I am simply looking for Shindy Ridge/Penny G****** to accept responsibility that an ill dog was sold under their name and to receive appropriate compensation for the treatment. The dog receives her first injection for the Heartworm treatment on 11/18.
