I purchased a 2006 ****** ***, with 98k mile on it February 2023 from Action Auto. It has a 2 year warranty on it. The horn stopped working and there was a rattling in the back and the emergency brake light came on. I took it in to Action Auto to have them look at repair it to pass inspection (I already had a rusted leaking fuel filter replaced by another shop). I just got a call from them stating the horn is not communicating with the computer, I need back struts and axel and new brake lines and it's going to cost me at least $2k....and that will "hopefully get you through another year and then we can see about upgrading you." I paid $10k for this car ($3k down and the rest financed) I will still have at least $3k to $4k left to pay off of it in a year. Do I have a lemon law complaint I can pursue? I feel like these things (and this many of them) should not have gone wrong/need to be repaired in less than a years time, purchased from a shop/dealer. When I told John I didn't think that was right the mechanic Kiether called. and side they weren't charging me labor, then it changed to wholesale labor... I still ended up paying $1.6k for repairs and $600 for a rental (they had my car two weeks for what should have been a 3 days repair.) When I picked it up John (the owner) had the audacity to say to me he wroekd with me, he was surprised with how well the car ran (he shouldn't be, he sold it to me, 1 year ago!) but that I'd need to buy another car in a year and also out right said "that's what we want" and to tell me I would be back!

There is no wrong doing on the business part. The customer Ms.*******, requested a repair and stated she needed her vehicle to pass NYS Inspection , and signed a repair order to do so.  This was the scope of work performed at a discounted rate as a courtesy. Apparently there was a miscommunication with what needed to be done and the charges . Our posted repair labor rate is $135.00 an hour .   If Ms.****** want a Repair bill on what it should have been for the scope of work we can provide that. She has had the vehicle for a year and has put almost 13,000 miles on the car .   Vehicles need maintenance and this was the case to bring the vehicle to good working order and pass inspection.     I would like to request this compliant be closed at this time !!   Respectfully submitted ,       John R***

BBB spoke to Keith at business and the following was relayed:This was not a warrantied repair as it is normal wear and tear items. We replaced the shocks and struts, repaired the horn, and had inspected for $1,604.13. We reduced the labor rate from $135 to $85 and only charged for 5 hours when we had at least 12 hours into it over two days. As far as the car rental, the customer would need to submit that to the warranty company.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The invoice is borderline eligible; and there is no proper itemized breakdown. I genuinely have no confidence and high suspicions about the work done on my car now. Regards, ****** ********
