********* knocked on my door at my apartment around 6:30-7pm on Mar. 7, 2024. She told me I was currently being charged extra for my electricity, and that she worked for ***** and all she was doing was having me choose the default local provider. I was rushed through the process of signing up for a service she insisted was run through and by *****, even though the names were different, and she assured me that her company was going through my entire apartment complex (Arrive ***********) to make sure everyone was using the same service, again through *****. My most recent bill reflected that her company was in fact a third party provider, thus negating the equal payment plan I had selected through ***** itself. Had I known that she was unaffiliated with *****, I wouldn't have spoken to her. This is false representation, and nothing good has come from any searches for RPA Energy or "Green Choice Energy" aside from a class action lawsuit. Their website is non functional, they attempt to redirect questions about service through *****, and they have no affiliation as confirmed through ***** itself.Business response

This is in response to complaint ID ********
Green Choice Energy's investigation revealed the following:
On 3-27-2024 ***************** enrolled with Green Choice Energy via our door-to-door channel. The sales agents that represent Green Choice Energy wear Green Choice Energy branded apparel that includes our logo. The sales agent also wears a badge with photo ID that reads We Are Not the Utility.
On 6/20/2024 a Manager called *** and confirmed her electric supply will returned to the utility on 7/26/2024 the gas supply was canceled on 6/20/2024 she received a confirmation number, there are no charges for the gas supply as of yet. *** agreed to a courtesy refund for the electric supply and she agreed to callback for a 2nd refund should there be any electric or gas charges in the future.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

A man came to my door saying he is from Green Choice Energy, representing *** Energy. He began telling me about the *** gas rates in my neighborhood and indicated he could lower these rates. He asked to see my last *** gas bill and began copying down all the pertinent information (i.e. name, address. account number, etc.) to his phone. He then started forcing me to sign things and would not let me read them. I specifically asked what this was doing and if this would increase my utilities cost, and he said it wasn't changing my account and it would not increase my monthly utilities bill. But, per their website and *** website, and the contract which I eventually got to read after he sent it to me and disappeared from sight, this will not only increase my bill, but more than double the rate that I am currently paying. That is false advertising, it is illegal. He made a deliberate misrepresentation. I was not allowed to read the contract. He only sent me the contract after I had already signed it.Business response

On 4-15-2024 **********************;receive a visit via our door-to-door channel.
We called ***** on 4-16-2024 to inform him that his account will not be enrolled seeing that he had buyers remorse cancellation code (v3avdk3i) and wished to exercise his right to rescind his enrollment with Green Choice Energy. There was no answer and no returned call
The rescission was processed, his account will remain with the utility.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

I received these letters confirming my switch to a different energy and gas provider. This issue is that I never requested the change. I called the provider to cancel and they said that it would take to 2 billing cycles. How can they just high **** my utility services. **** claims that this happens.Business response

Green Choice Energy's investigation revealed the following:
On 4/1/2024 a Manager called ******************** she explain that she did not know her gas and electric supply services was switched to green choice energy . The customer inform us she called our customer service number and received a cancellation number for gas and electric . ******* is aware to allow up to 2 billing cycles to return to full service with the utility and she agreed to call the Manager she spoke with at green choice energy if she notice we are on any of her future **********, she will receive a full refund if she is not at the utility price to compare rate.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

A man came to my door saying he is from Green Choice Energy. He started walking into my apartment before I even let him in. He said I didn't read my mail and I missed signing up for something that would save me money on my PSEG bill, and I had to sign up for the Green Choice Energy plan. He then started forcing me to sign things and would not let me read them. I specifically asked what this was doing and if this would increase my utilities cost, and he said it wasn't changing my account and it would not increase my monthly utilities bill. But, per their website and PSEG website, this will increase my bill. That is false advertising, it is illegal. He made a deliberate misrepresentation. I was not allowed to read the contract. On 10-30-2023 *********************** receive a visit via our door-to-door channel.
We called ******* on 10-30-2023 to inform her that her account will not be enrolled seeing that she had buyers remorse and wished to exercise her right to rescind her enrollment with Green Choice Energy. **** requested a confirmation letter of which she received on 10-30-2023 confirming her account will not be enrolled with Green Choice Energy.
The rescission was processed, her account will remain with her utility.
Green Choice Energy does not share customers personal information with any other suppliers.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

I had a girl named ***** show up to my door promising to save me money on my electric bill. I had a weird feeling about the whole thing but needed to save some money. After almost completing the whole thing the guy on the phone sounded very suspicious so i said i wanted to cancel everything. They called me 10 times and i still do not think they canceled my account but i just want to cancel my account with this business and for them to remove all of my personal informationBusiness response

A couple of weeks ago, the representative from Green Choice Energy wearing a Residents Energy also claiming they work for Residents Energy knocked on my door to tell me to lower my price. Even though I have switched to a different provider, they stressed me into just help them to change the price. Then a few days later I got an mail from DTE stating I have changed my supplier to Green Choice and charged me 10 dollars because I changed my supplier in the last 12 month more than once. The sales representative never mentioned they work for Green Choice once and insisted they work for Residents Energy with the logo on their clothes. I need them to immediately reverse the change and reimburse me for the 10 dollars charge incurred because of them.Business response

On 10-12-2023 ************ *** enrolled with Green Choice Energy via our door-to-door channel. The sales agents that represent Green Choice Energy wear Green Choice Energy branded apparel that includes our logo. The sales agent also wears a badge with photo ID that reads We Are Not the Utility.
On 10/26/2023 a Manager called *** but there was no answer or return call. The purpose of the call is to confirm the cancellation and to ***** him his request of the $10.00 processing fee from the utility of which we do not have to refund, it is in the spirit of good faith. Confirmation number ****** was sent via text to the number ending in (9562) and was informed Via text message to allow up to 2 billing cycles to return to full service with the utility.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

Just moved in to new apartment recently. Have roommates. Upon arriving home after living here a week, heard knock at door and was timid to open as I was alone and new to area. Was met with someone who said they were with electric company, flashed a ton of ID cards on neck (seriously had like 15) and said that I hadn't responded to their mail about a rate increase.I was an obvious target- wide eyed I said the electric was not set up by me, and that we just moved here so wouldn't have access to said multiple mailings regarding a price change yet. I told him I know nothing about it.So he preyed. I said come back when my roommate who set it up was available. He said no, had to do it now. I was confused and concerned something wasn't set up right with ***. So I called roommate and put him on the phone with the person representing ***.He was given our *** account number, bc he made it seem like I had to. He then guided me to a site on my phone and said to just check yes to everything. He said it was just a few questions and to just do it quickly bc it's the normal stuff.While looking at the questions, I realized I may be signing up for something, which wasn't how it was presented. I was told I had to do this.I expressed this concern, and said "do i have to sign up for this" and he said "it should have already been done for you but wasn't". I ASKED "ARE YOU WITH ***" AND HE SAID "YES".He also told me I'd receive a call immediately and that I had to say I was MARRIED to my roommate (bc it was his name on bill....and I kept telling him I am not in charge of the *** set up over and over...he said I WAS bc I LIVE THERE and that saying so was the only option) He also said I had to say yes to the question "has the representative left the premise" or something like that. He told me it meant he was never inside my apartment, so I must say yes.Basically, dude is good at being a shady salesman and preyed on me. ************************ did not contact Green Choice Energy to cancel her services prior to contacting the Better Business Bureau.
On 10/19/2023 a Manager called ************************ but there was no answer or return call. The purpose of the call is to confirm the cancellation. Confirmation number ****** was sent via text to her number ending in (0269) and she was informed Via text message to allow up to 2 billing cycles to return to full service with the utility.
We notified our sales partners not to solicit at this address and added it to our internal Do Not Knock (DNK) list.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:[Your Answer Here]
Not only did I call, but I called less than 20 minutes after representative left my apartment. My roommate also called same day as well, and spoke to a manager. When I called, I was told I had no active account yet, but was also sales pitched as to why I shouldn't cancel.
Roommate contacted them on at least 2 other occasions and was told it was canceled. I have attached a screenshot of proof that I called.
You can continue to provide responses that sales representatives wear Green Choice clothing, etc (not sure if this was true), but what does that matter when not only using scam sales tactics REPRESENTING yourself as working with PPL electric?
I paused during the sign up (that I was told I HAD TO DO) because it seemed shady and asked the question "Are you with PPL?" and he said "YES". So who cares what branding your clothing has when your words are lies.
It's ridiculous to act as if this was a voluntary sign up, I was scammed, and to say we didn't try to cancel is insane.
You should be offering a refund.
And going forward, just be better people.

You only called me once, and left a voice mail that you were canceling my service. It is upsetting that after so many attempts to cancel, it was immediate when registering a complaint with the BBB.
I will be happy to end this with the $78 refund, which is fair and accurate for the over charge received. However, I won't **** this as resolved until refund is sent and received.
I have had only one communication attempt via phone on their part. I had no reason to call back - every communication we have made with you by calling has resulted in lies from managers confirming cancelation that never happened or trying to retain our business that we never wanted in the first place.

09/28/2023 - I had a representative from Green Choice Energy slam/mislead me into switching my service. They said they worked with PSEG and were just updating my service to PSEGs green option. It was not clear to me that I was fully switching my service all together. I am cancelling this enrollment and fully rescind this contract with Green Choice Energy. This is disgusting sales tactics and its clearly not the first time they have tried this given the other reviews and complaints I have seen about this company.Business response

A representative claiming to be associated with DTE energy came to my door and said he needed to verify the charges on my bill. He said I was overpaying and then h signed me up for Green Choice Energy claiming it would reduce my bill but explained NOTHING else about this. I do not wish to be contracted with them and feel I was scammed and tricked into signing up. His name was ****. He was purposefully deceptive about it too.
