Some time in September 2023, a representative from RPA Energy/Green Choice came to my door to inform me that it was the time of the year to make a choice of my energy supplier. She seemed very nice, and stepped me through the process of doing so. However, she didn't inform me of the implications of this, and that this would significantly increase my PSEG bill for electric and gas. Because I am on a budget, this created a huge burden on my recent monthly expenses. A couple of days ago, I called PSEG to figure out why my recent bills were so high, at which time, the representative told me that this third party energy supplier was designated. I was able to cancel, but I still have to wait for two billing cycles for it to completely drop off my bill. I feel like the representative wasn't forthcoming and misrepresented the nature of her visit.Green Choice Energy Response

IYour door-to-door representative, *******, came to my door today. He told me how to get $50 off my monthly bill for the next 12 months. I asked him about six times or more if this would change anything to my current account with BGE because I did not want anything changed, and he kept saying nothing would change. He made it seem that this was something that BGE was doing and that I would get $50 off my monthly bill with no other changes to the account. However, I had no idea what was in the agreement. I did not see a copy until I got a text message shortly afterward and got my daughter to read it. That is when I found out that my supplier would change, and I made it clear that I did not want any changes to my account other than getting the $50 off on my bill. I did call Green Choice Energy to get it canceled; however, given the deceit from representative *******, I do not trust that they will provide a hassle-free cancellation and try to charge me. I want this resolved as soon as possible.Green Choice Energy Response

My experience with *************** was nice. It started off ***** because I was extremely frustrated as I was once again explaining that I have already been speaking to people about the issue I had was reinsured that the problem was taken care of which turned out it wasn't. When I spoke to *************** and was explaining to him the same scenario, he took his time and went out his way to look for evidence and stayed in contact with me with every finding he found. Usually people do not that they just repeat themselves and tell you the same thing that one of their other employees had already told you but he didn't. He was really nice a patient with me. Overall he was able to find that what I have been saying this whole time was true and apologized for all misunderstanding has well as how the other employees handled the situation. I apologized to him also for sounding rude and getting upset and I thanked him because I believe if it wasn't for him ill probably still be going through the same thing and getting nothing but a runaround in return. Thank you ***************.Green Choice Energy Response

A young man came to my apartment door today (how he got into the building, I have no idea). He started telling me about a program that could save me money on my utility bill, and that his company worked with several different energy utilities (Consumer's, DTE, etc.). He spoke very quickly, like he was in a hurry. He made it sound like this program was a change that my utility company was making in their service and so I felt like it was a mandatory thing that I had to go along with. I asked him what company he was from and he told me Green Choice Energy. He had a badge but I could not get a good look at it. He was asking for my Consumer's bill; in spite of my gut feeling about it all, I let him see it and he was putting the information on his phone. I told him that I had never heard of his company, and he told me that they sent out people once or twice a year to our area; he had supposedly talked to some of my neighbors downstairs. I said I had never talked to anyone from his company before and I have been in my apartment for a year and a half. He had me sign an agreement to go with the program; I had no idea what was in the agreement, I did not see a copy of it until I got a text message shortly afterward and I printed it off. I still had misgivings about the whole thing so I went online and looked up the company and the reviews people had given. Many complaints of being pressured and deceived by reps. I myself felt like I had been fast-talked into something that wasn't really made clear to me; it was made to sound like it was a required change I had to make. I emailed Green Choice Energy and told them I want to cancel my enrollment. I did get a welcome call from them, which I missed. I find it very odd that someone from a green energy company would show up at my door after I recently did a Consumer's customer survey giving my opinion regarding the push for "green energy." I want to make sure that my enrollment with Green Choice Energy is cancelled.Green Choice Energy Response

*** came to my door, looked at my energy bill and told me he wanted to give me some cash back as a thank you. Took all my info and wanted me to accept and sign the agreement to get the cash back. The statement said that in agreement I will be switching to Green Choice Energy. I asked him 6, 7, **** times if this was to switch my energy supplier. He repeatedly told me "No", that my supplier would remain the same as they own the pipes and lines. After showing him that the statement I was to sign is exactly the opposite of what he was telling me, he finally admitted that my signature would have me switch my energy supplier to Green Choice Energy. He claims he did not understand my question. I could not have been more clear.Review from Izabel S

SCAM SCAM SCAM Two men came to my apartment complex and banged on the door to my unit/excessively rang the doorbells of my unit until someone let them in. They then knocked on everyones doors saying they were the gas company. When I opened my door the guy standing there said he was from DTE energy and said that there was an error on the last bill and asked me to get it for him so he could document it and correct it claiming the I was being charged too much and that the bill was supposed to be lower. After I handed him by **** he took a photo of it, typed a bunch of stuff into his own phone, then told me to get my phone. Never once said his name and wasnt wearing anything that showed he was an employee of DTE. He had me fill out and sign something on my phone quickly, then I got a text of a COPY OF A CONTRACT and calls welcoming me to the green choice energy family.I googled others experiences with them and to see if they had any ties to DTE (they dont), then called and told them to cancel my contract. If I see those men again, or anyone else from green choice energy at my apartment complex, Im calling the police.Green Choice Energy Response

Good Afternoon ****************** - We have investigated your matter. We see that you received a call from the Green Choice Energy **************************** within a few hours after you signed the contract with Green Choice Energy. You expressed your desire to cancel the enrollment stating you believed the sales rep was representing DTE. Our QA Analyst explained that was not the case and rescinded your enrollment. The contract states Green Choice Energy and the sales representatives wear Green Choice Energy labeled apparel, lanyard with photo ID and a badge that says they do not represent the utility. Additionally as you experienced a phone call is made to each customer who chooses to enroll with ********************** by the **************************** to confirm your desire to enroll and answer any questions. We are happy that we had the opportunity to investigate your claims and resolve your matter. Thank you, Green Choice EnergyReview from William B

My gas bill doubled in price after switching to them. Nothing in the contract explains why you now are charged two times for the same service. DO NOT make the mistake of signing up with them!Review from Erin F

A salesperson bypassed security at our condo complex and gained entry without being buzzed in.He knocked on my door.At NO POINT did he say he was from GREEN CHOICE ENERGY.He had a plain polo shirt, NO LOGO.He said he was here to review my PS&G bill, to ensure I was paying the lowest cost.In his pitch he kept referencing PSE&G over and over.By coincedence, less than a week ago we recently had our electric meter replaced, so I thought he might have been following up.He said I could save money on my bill by "switching to a local provider". Then he asked to see my bill, and the PoD ID #'s (which are necessary to switch providers). He sent me a TXT with some form to fill out. In the text it said Green Choice Energy. At NO POINT did he say he was from GREEN CHOICE ENERGY.Then I knew it was a scam. Its a totally deceptive practice.Review from Prit K

I was lied by the sales agent today that that are affiliated to my utility company PSEG and made me sign a contract. I do not need your service, tried reaching out to customer service via phone and email, not sure my service is cancelled, send me a confirmation that the service request/enrolment is cancelled.Green Choice Energy Response
