One month ago maui was admitted to colonial in Ithaca for emergency surgery to remove stones from his bladder and remove a stone that was lodged in his urethra right where the bone narrows in the penis. He was admitted for a week and we paid thousands thinking our problems were resolved. Since mauis surgery I have called colonial to express my concerns about Maui peeing regularly and they assured me “ he’s just swollen there was a lot of trauma “ so I said okay I’ll just monitor and call back with any issues. now immediately after mauis surgery he started peeing out of his anal area instead of his urethra and they told me “we believe he is having diahrea from the diet change etc.” Now we are exactly a month out from his surgery and Maui is REGULARLY peeing from his anus and just dribbling from his penis. I called colonial to express my concerns and right off the bat they told me a astronomical amount I would have to pay to correct the issue. Which money isn’t the problem Me being who I am I have cried and cried because it’s either I pay this amount or they talked about putting Maui down. So I decided to start getting a second opinion because there has to be someone out there that will help me. After many doctors turning mauis case away I finally found a doctor in wellsboro to take on mauis case and after looking over all his paperwork and hours of discussion I was told colonial completely messed up on Maui and I should look into contacting a lawyer. Immediately I was brought to tears. How is a BOARD CERTIFIED hospital known for cases like this to completely drop the ball. Dr. Kreger put Maui under today to take more X-rays because he is still unsuccessful peeing. And I am happy to hear he had no stones but there is something that the doctors did during surgery to cause a complete blockage. Also he advised me that the doctor at colonial had made some sort of tear placing a catheter to many times which caBusiness response

I am sorry to hear that this issue has escalated to a complaint with the BBB.
We were attempting to provide secondary care after her regular veterinarian was unable to assist Maui
We also made multiple attempts to work with her on follow up.
We even attempted to discuss the case with the general practice doctor that elected to see her in PA with no success
I have attached my response and a few documents from the medical record supporting the fact that we were aware of a secondary issue that may not resolve.
I did not attach any medical literature but it should be noted that a fistula is a rare congenital disease seen in patients with chronic congenital UTI.
This patients medical history may be warranted to evaluate the "big picture" with this sweet young dog.
Literature of unblocking a dog and "causing" a fistula with the present standards of medicine, is non-existent
