I had my hardwood floors refinished by Keith at 716 Hardwood Floors on August 30-31 2021. When I removed my carpet I noticed large areas of paint on the floor. When Keith inspected my floors I pointed out paint spots, asking if we should get the paint off to see if the paint was put there to cover something up prior to having them refinished to see if there was a problem under those spots. He told me no, no need to get the paint off ahead of time, I can just get it off when I sand the floors. When he sanded the floors, he pointed out that under the paint were old pet urine stains from a prior owner of my home. He then told me he could not get wood on a short notice to replace those boards, we will just have to continue and I will have to live with the stains in the floor. I did not really have a choice in the matter but to continue as the floors were now bare wood, and could not be left that way. Within a month or two we noticed the stains were turning white, and on close inspection, the polyeurethane was peeling off those spots, less than 3 months after I had paid him over $1,200 to do the floors. I texted him pictures of the issues on November 19, and the conversation ended with him stopping answering when I responded to him suggesting that I would have to pay to have them redone again to fix it by saying "I shouldnt have to pay you your work failed in less than 90 days". I then called him multiple times within the following weeks, leaving multiple voicemails, no answer, no call back. I finally got a hold of him, I plead my case, and he stated he would not fix it as he only warranties his work for 7 days, which is incredibly short in my opinion. He also stated he would not fix the floor as he does not warranty preexisting issues, but as I stated above I asked him if we should remove the paint to check for problems and he said no. So the only reason the preexisting issue was not found prior was due to his suggestion which I had trusted as he is a professional.
