I was under contract to Billy D's Lawncare for lawn cutting services for the 2022 season. During that time, his employees ran their mowers over my downspout extensions, destroying them, and damaged my backyard shed by shearing holes in the corners with their weed trimmers. I notified Billy D and he said he would reimburse me by reducing my contract for the 2023 season. I told him I would not be needing further lawncare past 2022, since I then would be able to do my own lawn care in 2023. He told me the repair should only cost me $50 (for a $10 part) and told me that in 30 years, I was the only one who contacted him regarding damage. That is where the conversation ended. I could not get my contractor to repair the shed damage until May 2023. He was experiencing serious health issues and other contractors I contacted did not respond to my calls. I sent documents, photos, receipts (for the shed and new downspout extensions) to Billy D for reimbursement totaling $198.86 in May, July, and September 2023. I realize that businesses are very busy, but I never received a response.Business response

BBB spoke to the business owner and the following was relayed: I haven't touched foot on her property in over a year. She had a different company servicing her property prior to me and a different company servicing her property after me. I don't know if this was caused by one of my guys. If it was, I would've taken care of it if she had let me know right away. But a over a year later she sends me a bill for $170 and tells me to pay it? How do I know it was one of my guys? I've been in business over 30 years and service over 500 properties a week, this is my first and only BBB complaint ever. Bottom line, if she would've let me know right away, I would've taken care of it because I would've known it was caused by my company. But it's been over a year now. I am not responsible. Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. As you can see by the text messages attached in the document, he did acknowledge this matter. I did not have anyone service my lawn after his business (he has no proof of this). I explained the matter of not being able to find a contractor to fix the damage (also in the document). Regards, ***** *******Customer response

Due to Mr. D's belittling rhetoric in response to my request for reimbursement for damages caused by his company, I am choosing to withdraw my complaint. I knew I would not be reimbursed, but I needed to stand up for myself as a consumer, and I wanted to give him the opportunity to do the right thing. Although I appreciate your attention to this matter, I refuse to be involved in a vitriolic conversation. I do not wish to disparage Mr. D's company in any way, but the document I provided speaks to the truth, and I have no reason to lie. For the record: 1. My one previous contractor only cut my lawn, and at my request, did no trimming/edging whatsoever. 2. I also have no current contractor; I cut my own lawn. Regards, ***** *******
