How are companies like this in business, how is it legal? When I inquired with my insurance about my benefits, I was told that at least an eye exam is included, and probably a small amount for contacts as well. Now that I called them to ask for the reimbursement, Davis Vision *clarified* that the eye exam is paid only if I go to an in-network optometrist. My doctor told me that it'd be easy to still get the reimbursement if I presented them with a letter she prepared for me. No, they just won't give the most basic of benefits. As to the contacts coupon, you can't order online, you have to buy them in person from a store (for double the price). What a joke. I'm so frustrated that I'm ditching ******* for even thinking of working with them.

This company delays and stalls and makes any excuse not to follow through with covered expenses. Every time we file with Davis Vision there is a delay or something wrong on our part. It can never be handled over the phone and we always have to file a new paperwork. Oh and they can't email you the paperwork it has to come through snail mail. It is to the point that one thinks it is intentional hoping that the consumer gets frustrated and just forgets about it.

I have an eye disease (Keratoconus) that requires scleral lenses. Without these special contacts, I would most likely be unable to work or drive as glasses and regular contacts do not improve my vision by much at all. According to my insurance coverage, contacts that are medically necessary are covered in full. However, the claim has been rejected twice now, and when I call to ask, I am told that the provider did not process the claim correctly. The initial appointment was on February 15, and I received a letter stating that the contacts would be covered. Then, the provider called in late April to say they were only going to pay $75 of the $2200. I called customer service, and I was told the provider did not code it correctly. We got the provider on the line, and she was given information to contact provider services. She resubmitted the claim at the end of April, but I had not heard anything, so I called customer service again, only to be told that the claim was automatically rejected by the system because the provider did not code it correctly. They could not help me because there is a different number for the provider to call. I am waiting on a return call from a supervisor, but they said it could be 48 hours before I hear back. I understand that the contacts are expensive, but I keep them for at least two years, and the policy states that they are covered. The provider commented to me that they have had multiple issues with Davis Vision in agreeing to cover contacts, then claiming they are not going to pay it, which leaves the provider out a significant amount of money.

Davis vision by ******* Health is the worst! So many OD have left the insurance. I went into their website the other day and was looking for an OD in Haverhill and there were 45. ALL of them had the same address and phone number which didn't work. I called customer service and the men said they were in the same place and I didn't have any other option in that town which does not make sense. He then told me to call another provider in Lawrence which is not the town I wanted and I asked him to call them first to verify if they were working with Davis Vision. He transfered me, the other place was not working with this insurance anymore and I lost the staff on the phone from Customer Service. This is frustrating and ridiculus that there are not updates at all!

I've been a Davis Vision client through my company for about three years. In that timeframe, they've either rejected or under-funded several claims they're explicitly obligated to cover in their policy docs, and made me challenge that rejection to eventually get coverage. At times, that's led to months-long delays in getting new lenses. They regularly ignore calls/emails/faxes from both clients and medical practitioners. They are universally known as the worst vision insurance provider to work with amongst the few dozen optometrists in my city that I've spoken to. I've actually been rejected as a new patient from a few who do take Davis insurance, but simply don't want to bring me in and deal with the hassle that Davis creates. I've now been advised by five different opto offices (not exaggerating) to talk to my HR and transition our coverage to a new provider, which I'm doing. It seems clear that they have a built-in business practice of rejecting, resisting or delaying by any means necessary to make patients fight for every dollar and ultimately fund less than they're contractually obligated to.

I regret doing business with this company and don’t understand how they are allowed to operate or have partnerships with major insurers like **** *****. If you are looking for an example of how our health insurance is designed to disempower you, waste your time, and take your money while providing no value in return, Davis Vision is for you. They have NO PHONE NUMBER. Sometimes they mail reimbursement checks (never for the appropriate amount) with a little clip art phone on them but no number. Want a reimbursement? Go to their website… but then print and mail a form. No other option. And when they send you 1/3 of what your plan is supposed to pay? Well, that’s when you are presented with the greatest mystery. Who do you call? Who works there? Does anyone? The only answer is that Davis Vision is only here to shake you down. This company is a scam from head to toe and should be shut down. It is a disgrace, and their employees should be ashamed.

Davis deliberately seeks to provide the worst customer service possible hoping that you'll give up and not utilize your benefits. A simple transaction required multiple calls and long hold times.

They refuse to tell me why they have not sent them and every customer service rep has a different story..supervisors are NOT calling me back...I'm being left on hold...I have NEVER seen such a bunch of disrespectful ******!!! They just don't care..I will be paying for my contacts out of pocket and dropping them..

Davis Vision doesn't pay out because they make it impossible to submit a claim. Their app will give you errors and their website will make it seem like you submitted the claim but it sends no confirmation and when you call they have no record or your claim.
