    Pattern of Complaint:

On September 23, 2022, and October 12, 2022, BBB attempted to contact Superior Reflections Hardwood Flooring regarding a pattern of serious complaints. BBB received complaints alleging:

Work being delayed well past a provided start/completion date, work that is done is poor quality and the workers do not show up when expected. Other consumers report that they are charged more than the agreed upon price and when a refund is requested, they do not receive it even though one is promised.

BBB notified Superior Reflections Hardwood Flooring about the pattern of complaints and asked the business to voluntarily cooperate in eliminating the pattern by providing a written response outlining the specific steps it would implement in order to avoid similar complaints in the future. BBB also requested general information including copies of their contract, the names & full contact information of the business’ principal officers and responsible management, the physical address of its principal office and a completed BBB Standard Business Questionnaire.

As of October 25, 2022, Superior Reflections Hardwood Flooring has not responded regarding the pattern of complaints or BBB's requests for information. BBB has concerns about Superior Reflections Hardwood Flooring’s business practices and urges consumers to use caution based on their complaint activity and lack of responsiveness.

Scheduled Scott to redo our floors before we moved in late May. He told us it would take 4 days to do the job. It took him over 7 days and the day of move in, we had to tell our movers to leave some of our furniture on our lawn to wait for the floors to dry. On top of that, he did an awful job in several areas of the house so he said he would come back and redo them. In July, we contacted him to schedule to come back to finish the job. He has given us excuse after excuse. Said he was coming to finish and then never showed. It is now December and our floors are still not done. I can provide a more detailed timeline if need be with text messages to back everything up.

I previously filed a complaint with the BBB but recently discovered that the address online is an old address. The BBB had told me that he never responded to the complaint so I am filing it again with the correct address. On 2/21/22, I gave Scott M**** a check for $800 as a deposit for installing hardwood flooring. There was no contract. Shortly thereafter I changed my mind and requested my money back. He kept promising to return it but eventually ignored my calls and e-mails. I have several pages of complaints about this company from Better Business Bureau.

Scott M**** claims he will return the $9350. It has not happened. Scott was to refinish my floors. I had to have the floors all redone, only 600 sq.ft. because of poor workmanship and I was overcharged or should I say ripped off.

Paid $3,000 for hardwood floor refinishing in late December 2020-early January 2021. There were multiple issues with the work that the owner Scott agreed with and said for 6+ months he was going to come back to fix the issues and never did giving various excuses and kept rescheduling which I have the text messages documenting. For a period of another several months I had health and family issues until I was able to leave a bad review and recontacted with Scott in January 2022. He again said he was going to come back but has made up other varying excuses for the past 6 months once again. I’m located in Buffalo and he is in Rochester area. The floors have gaps where his worker put replacement boards in, the polyethylene is uneven and marked in multiple areas including the stair steps which barely have a single coat and the toe molding is cut off in various areas.

Scott M**** was asked to quote a second layer over the original wood floor. He delivered 5" knotty boards instead of the agreed to 3 1/4" clear board width. We were going over the old floors, he knew he needed to trim the front door. HE USED A ******** VIBRATING TOOL with the door still on the hinges. The decorative front door subsequently needed to be professionally repaired due to his butcher job. He sanded the floors and applied a different color stain that we chose. He installed stained trim around the edges. What Scott did not do: FINISH THE JOB! Did not return with trim for around stairs. Did not sand, or poly in hallway closet Did not make floor boards long enough creating gaps that the edge molding does not cover Did not touch up where his sanding machine damaged existing kitchen floor finish(not part of the job) Did not clean up the buckets of stain left out back - our white house is now the color of the floors. Did not use proper tools for the job(picture of how Scott trims a board for a corner) Did not trim the board lengths properly and so the floor sat on the rising edge of the front door threshold causing a soft spot in the floor >6 feet long. After 6 months, the board width has shrunk so much that the tongue is completely exposed. Over 50% of the floor gaps are greater than an 1/8th inch and in some places you can see the old floor in the gap. Boards have shifted so gaps are inconsistent and lifting. We had to redo the front door threshold because so much material had to be removed during the front door repair. See pics of his hatchet job. Once the floor was trimmed to proper length, the soft section settled but is not secured properly. We gave him over 6 months to finish the job. He delivered a variety of excuses but has NEVER returned. Payment 1 3/16/2021: $2650 Payment 2 6/24/2021: $2600 All text messages are saved and available
