I am still waiting five years later to have my house Finished the most unprofessional Group of people I have ever dealt within my life. Actually they walked off the job. And left me in shambles with an unfinished house. But I gather. I'm not the first one they have done this too Obviously. Garage unfinished house was set Not level I still have outlets that have no power due to their professional contractors LO. L who cut wires in the middle of my wall. There is many other companies out that will treat you much better and actually finish the house. My assessment they are pathetic.Review from Barbara S

Michael R******** is not only a bad contractor he's a terrible human being. His work ethic, work quality, business practices... After my mother got a substandard job he squeaked another $500 out of her saying he didn't charge enough for the job and gas prices had gone up etc etc **. You should be ashamed of yourself Michael. We will be taking this to courtReview from Phebe Q

This guy is a joke! Never shows up when he says. He delayed my counter tops 3 months. He wrecked my old one and put a piece of wood the was not the correct shape, it was 1 1/2 above the cabinets so there was a large gap In between. He never even got to do the epoxy! He has poor workmanship, skills, customer service, time management, ability to stay on task. I took him to small claims and won. But he didn’t pay. Don’t hire him!!!!Lakewood Home Improvement, LLC Response

I would like to make this short response. it’s unfortunate that I took on this project to install a new countertop that replaced Phebe’s old cracked full of mildew. The countertop that we built was built to the original size and ***** approved. I never met anyone so who thought they could treat you with disrespect. As you can see based on her review this is the way she treated myself in a subcontractor that did plumbing for us. He actually walked off the job because the way he was being treated. I also after completing the countertop and installing the farm sink we walked away from this job. She felt that she was entitled to get a discount. She had mentioned on our conversation that she was getting a huge discount. So look at the name Contractor‘s and please stay away from this lady because she’s a fraud and she will not pay you what was agreed upon. And one last thing she did not beat us in court my family had Covid that week which prevented me from appearing. Again contractors beware if you want to be treated with disrespect go ahead and do work for her. Lakewood Home Improvement LLC.Review from Lauren C

I hired Michael in may of 2022 to do epoxy countertops. It took him about a month to complete our job, would show up for about 30 minutes at a time and ended up finishing them within a month. At first they looked great, until we we actually using out countertops, we noticed them staining, rubbing off, and scratching, everything Micheal said wouldn’t happen. He was supposed to come back and fix it but never shows up when he says he will. I am constantly calling him, checking in to see what’s going on or when he is coming and it’s one excuse after another. He showed up and sanded all my counter tops down, told me he was waiting for this top coat to come in. I waited weeks before I texted him and he said magically it arrive and he would be here to do it. The time he stated would come had come and go and still no Michael. Now we are out full on countertops because they are all sanded down with no top coat and look terrible. I will be taking Michael to small claim court.Lakewood Home Improvement, LLC Response

Her project start date was Tuesdays, May 31st 2022. We also explained that we collect 50% down before we start the project and the balance is due once our clients approve of our workmanship. On Friday. April 29th 2022, We met up and delivered ******s invoice and we collected our 50% Down payment.

On June 20th 2022 I posted an ad on ******** marketplace and ****** shared my post and these were her exact words on her post “For those wondering who did our countertops Michael did an amazing job you will not be disappointed be sure to let him know I sent you”.
On August 16th 2022 ****** ****** Reached out to Lakewood Homes Improvement LLC with a problem with her countertops in front of her sink she was asking about if there was a repair for it. ****** at this time she did not have warranty and she wasn't given a warranty but in good faith Lakewood Home Improvement LLC was willing to do some repairs and did not charge her for any products that were needed for the repairs.

Very disappointing. I contracted for epoxy countertops and cabinet painting and "disaster" is the most fitting term I can muster. Check the other reviews here and on google, you'll see I'm not alone. The one thing the owner is good at is convincing you he knows what he's doing. Bad reviews all showed up in about the same timeframe, so I suspect he has a habit of starting a business, running it until word gets around about the poor quality, then abandoning and starting fresh. I was assured at the beginning that this was a 2-3 week job at most. after more than 8 weeks (frequently 15-30 minutes was a day's work), I had enough. Paint job is fixable, but I'm replacing the countertops. I had 3 countertops done. The big island was primed and poured over laminate, and while it looks good, it never really hardened, even an empty glass will leave a mark. The other two were built by the contractor, but he clearly has no useful experience in kitchen construction. The one that should be up to the wall is more than an inch away, completely unusable. I think he just used random scraps of wood on the end of my narrow one. I have 20+ years of experience working in a cabinet and furniture shop, and I know how it should be done. Of the 3 counters he did, no two are alike. Communication, timeliness, honesty, skill, organization, and end result were all completely absent. There was a complete failure to protect walls, appliances, and floor, resulting in paint and epoxy where it shouldn't be, and scratches on the side of my refrigerator. He was also unwilling to give references when I finally asked since he likes to talk so much about his happy customers. I hope you found this review before you got screwed by this business. He will show you photos that look really good, but understand that a few good photos do not mean it's quality work. Photos also don't capture all the problems I mentioned here. My advice is get references, detailed terms in writing, don't pay ahead.Review from Greg F

Overall I would say this has been a very bad experience. It’s been 3+ months and my kitchen has a mediocre paint job and the countertop is terrible. Do NOT get involved with this guy in any way.Review from Andrea H

Horrible experience!! Beware if you contract with Michael Rodriquez. We contracted with Lakewood Home Improvement, LLC on February 16, 2002 to paint our kitchen cabinets and epoxy our kitchen countertops and backsplash. We paid a deposit of 1/2 the cost of the entire job and was contracted to start on April 19th and didn't actually start until 2 weeks later and only because we called repeatedly asking when the job would start. Michael removed most of our cabinet doors for spraying and then didn't come back for 3 more weeks, again only because repeated calls. When the cabinet painting finally started almost 5 weeks ago, it was done by an 18-year, Chris, that Michael would drop off in the morning and then make excuses that he needed to get paint, tools when most of the time he would leave for 4-6 hours to go to another job and only return to pick up Chris. Michael promised my cabinets would be completed on the Friday before Memorial Day as it was my son's 21st birthday celebration with family. He walked out that night to go camping and my kitchen looked like a truck went through it. Never were my brand new appliances covered or was anything taped off. Instead and paint was wiped off of my appliances as if that was okay. Over the last 5 weeks Michael worked on our project for less than 3.5 hours and only held a paint brush in his hand for 10 mins. Chris, a wonderful kid but very inexperienced, did all of the painting. Michael called on Tues, May 31st and said he would finish the painting but that was all he was doing. He was very offended that we wanted to discuss the progress of our job whenever he was here which wasn't often. Today is June 4th and Michael walked out of our house quitting under a veil of threats with the kitchen cabinet paining unfinished. We learned too late that Michael and his ex-wife knows a family member from years ago and that relationship ended very badly. Be careful, he's a con-artist, has owned multiple businesses and has a history of this.Review from shawn c

our counter tops turned out terrible re-did them and now worst. Had our kitchen in shambles for over a month. our Foucet and sink is now glued to countertop, sanded the top lip of dishwasher, spots all-over that did not get covered, still wet spots five months later. do your self a favor and save your money. this guy does entry-level work at best
