I received a bill today from LIT for the amount of $1,145.26 stating the "Description" as 1st Stage of Tax Reduction Fee for 2022/2023. I informed them that I no longer would use their services over a year and a half ago. I spoke with the Office of *************************** regarding taxes due to the Town of North Hempstead. They informed that there was no reduction in taxes nor was there anything in process. The office thought it might be a scam.I called LIT earlier today, left a message to inquire about this bill and have not received a response. So I believe this is a false bill and an attempt to receive money from me that was not authorized or due. It's quite disturbing a bill from a company that I no longer had a relationship with and to not reach anyone who wishes to correct it. I think this is an attempt to have people pay for services never rendered or authorized, as in my case. I should never have been billed.Customer response

I have been trying for years to get this company off my back. I have written to them, I have called them by phone, I have emailed them. I do not want any services from them. They keep billing me for services that I don't want. I just want them to STOP. If I have to go to court I will. This has been going on for years. A few years ago they billed me and I told them that I'll pay the **** but I want them to take me off their list of clients. They told me to sign the invoice and send the money and they would leave me alone. But I found out that by doing so I authorized them for another year. I asked them about this and they said don't worry about that will take me off. Every year they keep billing me. I just want them to leave me alone. I think they're doing it on purpose.Business response

At Long Island Tax Reductions, we are very proud of our A+ rating with the BBB and the fact that we have helped thousands of our long-term, satisfied customers save money on their property taxes. We have been in business for nearly thirty years and we fight hard to ensure our clients pay no more than their fair share of taxes.
In order to retain our services, a new, separate agreement must be signed for each tax year. Our agreements are in the form approved by the ***************************** and they clearly refer to the tax year being challenged and detail the services provided. Our agreements do not at all look like a **** or invoice.
Due to deadlines and the timing of Nassau Countys assessment review calendar, an assessment review complaint must be filed approximately one-and-a-half years before the tax bills are issued. For example, the deadline to challenge the upcoming 2023/24 County assessment will be March 1, 2022, yet the first 2023/24 tax **** isnt even issued until October 2023! Thats a full 19 months after the deadline, and that is simply the way the assessment review calendar works.
We send out regular communications updating our clients with the status of their assessment challenges. Nevertheless, it does happen from time to time that a client may not recall signing up for our services given the very lengthy assessment review calendar. When this happens, we will gladly and promptly send our customer a copy of their signed agreement for the tax year at issue, as well as proof that the assessment was reduced as a result of our filing. We have no hidden fees, our contracts are clear, and we only earn our fee when we save our clients money by reducing their property tax assessment.
We are sending **************** another copy of his signed agreement where he authorized us to challenge his 2021/22 property tax assessment, as well as the proof that we were able to obtain a ten (10%) percent reduction in his 2021/22 assessment. This reduction saved him $856.99 on his 2021/22 school taxes alone, money that he would have otherwise had to pay had we not successfully reduced his assessment. There will be an additional savings for **************** when his 2022 general tax **** comes out in January, 2022, all due to our efforts in reducing his assessed value.
Customer satisfaction is paramount to us and we do our best to please all our clients. We respect Mr. ******* wishes and we will not send him mailings for new tax years.
