I am filing a complaint against Esusu for mistakenly reporting an incorrect address (***************************************************************************************) to Experian under my name. I have never lived at the address in question; the only reason Esusu had access to my personal information is because I acted as a financial guarantor for my nephew, who resided at that address. This has been confirmed by the leasing office, which advised me to reach out to Esusu to resolve the issue. Despite multiple attempts to contact Esusu via email, I have received no response. I have attached the email communication as evidence.Business response

Esusu, **** is a financial services company focused on leveraging data to help bridge the racial wealth gap by reporting on-time rental payments to credit bureaus, thereby helping residents build or improve their credit scores. We collaborate with property managers and owners to offer rent reporting services, alongside providing financial literacy and other supportive resources to their residents.
We have opted the complainant out of the program and filed an AUD with the credit bureaus to remove Esusu from their credit report.
Additionally, after reviewing our records, we found no prior email communication from the complainant. We have proactively reached out via email to provide more detailed information about the AUD and the steps we have taken to resolve the issue.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I dispute that I ever signed up for this service. As a result of being signed up against my will, my FICO score has gone down. In other words, you arent helping people. I should also note that the rent I was paying was NOT $2170 a month, as was shown on my credit reports. I live in HUD Project-Based Section 8 that is Privately Owned. The $2170 represents both my rent ($420) And the Hud subsidy, which totals $2170. Since my sole income is from Social Security, which is about $1,500 a month, what creditor would ever want to lend to me?! Im 75, and Im not in the market for credit anyway. Esusu and Related need to respect the abilities of residents to make their OWN Decisions about money.
Thank you for your time.

We have carefully reviewed the complainants concerns. It is important to note that Esusus ********************** is offered as a free, opt-in service through the property management company. According to our records, this service was automatically available to residents unless they chose to opt out. Upon receiving the complainants request, we took immediate action, on August 31, 2024, our team submitted an AUD to the credit bureaus to request the removal of Esusus reporting from the complainants credit file. We appreciate the complainants feedback and apologize for any concerns this may have caused.

This ESUSU organization has opened an account in at least one of my credit reporting agency records. I have, to my almost certain knowledge, no relationship whatsoever with ESUSU. Inasmuch as this ESUSU account has no benefit to me and has obvious risk to me, I demand that this ESUSU account be closed and all records in any credit reporting databases be purged. Please have ESUSU email me when this demand has been met. Thanks.Customer response

This morning I woke to a Credit report alert saying that there was a new account opened and a new inquiry. I look up the address and it's this business that comes up. I have never talked to them, applied for anything, or even agreed to have them consider me for anything. They did a inquiry transaction without my permission. This company seems to be a fraud. I have never heard of this company until today. I will have to report them to law enforcement.Business response

I however never signed up or even knew about this program. All my payments for rent have always been drafted from my bank account on time every month. I would like this company investigated and my credit restored. 43 points it dropped my credit was 747! Ive reached out to the company ESUSU and Ive contacted Equifax to open an investigation as well. I can provide any documentation needed showing Ive never used this service.Customer response

Esusu, **** (Esusu) was established with the ambitious vision of unleashing the power of data to bridge the racial wealth gap. Esusu provides rent reporting, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) analytics, and rental payment assistance to the benefit of millions of Americans. Our mission is to dismantle the barriers to housing for working families by establishing or improving individuals' credit scores so they can enjoy financial wellness and stability. As part of our core rent reporting business, we help investors, owners, and property managers of single and multifamily rental properties (our clients) improve their residents financial health by capturing the rental payments made by the residents and reporting them to *******, Experian and TransUnion every month.
Esusu is dedicated to providing accurate credit reporting data and safeguarding the privacy and fair credit reporting rights of consumers. During a recent data ingestion process for credit bureau reporting of rental payment data, we discovered anomalies that resulted in duplicate tradelines and the creation of new trade lines for consumers without any affiliation with said certain consumers. We immediately identified and worked to resolve this internal data issue by taking steps to submit corrections to remove the reported data. These corrections will be reflected in a credit report provided by one of the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian or TransUnion).
We have reached out to the complainant directly to provide additional information regarding this situation and the corrective action taken to address. We apologize for any concern that this issue may have caused the complainant and appreciate their feedback.Initial Complaint

Esusu placed an entry on my credit report that does not belong to me. I have never rented at a ***************************** property. This is potential fraud and I cannot get in contact with anyone at Esusu to get information to see if it was a data entry mistake or if it is truly identity theft. Their number just leaves me on hold and then hangs up on me.Business response
