July 6, 2023 Paid $527 Charged for services not provided or not consulted about treatments and tests first. Brought our cat to Goosepond July 6th because our regular vet on ********** is closed on Thursdays and because he wasn't eating well, had some minor diarrhea, and was lethargic. During the "exam", the vet went to lift his tail and he growled. The vet didn't continue to examine his **** and stated "he's already upset I don't want to upset him more". They charged $98 for an incomplete exam. This will matter as you continue to read.They then told me they were "taking him in back to draw some blood for an in house check ******* When they came back, they said they ran two different types of bloodwork: Chem 17 panel with electrolytes $151, and *** $119 , gave him a 14 day antibiotic injection $91, an anti-nausea injection $59, and subcutaneous fluids $37. None of that had been discussed with me first except for the in house ***.The next morning I found pus on the floor so I rushed him to our regular vet on ********** and they found that his **** glands had ruptured. They stated if the vet the previous day had completed their exam and checked his **** area, they would have noticed the **** gland and could have carefully lanced it and cleaned it, and put him on the appropriate antibiotic as the injection they gave him was not appropriate for the type of injury and infection he had. The Goosepond bill was $527 of which only $119 was explained and agreed to.I spend an additional $500+ at another vet who now was trying to heal the wound and to keep him alive because he was in such pain he wouldn't eat as they explained, an animal in pain like that thinks they're dying. My cat did die in my arms on July 17th. I paid another $250 for his cremation services.The Goosepond vet office should have completed their exam and should NOT have run any tests or provided any medication without first discussing and explaining the reasons why, and sharing the costs.
