On October 3, 2023, ***. **************** sent me a contract and I signed it for him to be hired as my contractor. Just prior to that he was working for ********************, in ********, **. He told me that that company was overcharging me, and that he could do the job for less than half the cost. He told me to send increment payments to his son, ****** with *****. I followed his directions and the amount in question is $5600.00. His son dropped off some sheet rock, 11, twelve-foot planks of ******* Fir, and some joists along with two buckets of compounding paste, which in no way should be that amount that was extracted from me, as I was told by another contractor the other day when he came over to access the situation. ********************** texted me and came with the excuse that he and his son were in the hospital with Covid-19. I gave him more than one month to recover, then he comes up with another lame excuse that **** was discovered where he lives and had to find a temporary residence. possibly with his daughter. He swore that he was going to resume work here this past Monday. No phone calls, emails, nor text messages. His son is no longer innocent as it would seem, because upon further investigation through the Better Business Bureau I discovered that a pattern is reoccurring with them, March 18, 2022. But, I also found out that ********************** oversells his ability. Not only that but, the address for where his business in presently located is *******************************************************************. I cross referenced it when I Googled it. **************. How he got away with it the first time astounds me, but like they say give them enough rope, and theyll hang themself. Which is what he has done again along with his son. The physical address has yet to be updated. More stringent measures are needed to stop this fraudulent business ever happening again.

On March 18, 2022, ******************* of JM Contracting & Custom Carpentry Corp started renovations to our home, which consisted of demoing two bathrooms and updating a third; adding wood floors to one room and staining the others on the first and second levels; and tiling the entryway. The first week he showed up with his son and one other man and they were quick to demo everything (including all three bathrooms at the same time), leaving the house completely chaotic and practically unusable. From there, the work was slow, staggered, and unprofessional. He would work for 2 hours then leave and call it a "day", othertimes, he would simply not show up for 3-4 days stretches and come up with some excuse, or he would send his son - who is merely an apprentice - which was a complete waste of time since he could not execute anything on his own. This dragged on for two months. He would plant excuses along the way of his van breaking down (one week of work missed), and then he was sick (another week missed), etc. It finally came to a point where he disappeared and stopped coming altogether. At this point, every project was 80% finished but nothing was usable. I called and texted more than a dozen times per day for nearly two weeks and he avoided/ignored everything. Of our initial agreement, we had a $1200 balance left. We've since had to hire a new contractor to FIX and finish his work and already have paid $3700 and the work is still not completed. The new contractor discovered the shoddy work *** did. For example, the wiring in bathrooms used cheap, poor materials and would never have worked. The shower head in master bath was not properly hooked up and never would have produced water. *** also stole a number of materials from us that I've had to pay for to replace including a $100 remote for a ceiling fan, k**** for master bath, and a faucet. ******************* should NEVER be allowed to work again as he oversells his skills and work product is less than satisfactory.
