Purchased a cake that has mold on it. I can't imagine what could be in the cake.Business response

Good Afternoon,
My name is ***** and I am the Senior District Manager for Paris Baguette. Of course we always take these accusations very seriously. Obviously, we cannot confirm that the guest handled the cake in the proper manner from the time of purchase. Examples are, holding it in refrigeration of under 40 degrees, as well as holding the cake more than 48 hours.
However, I conducted an audit confirming Astoria's process of both hygiene and first in first out rotation practices. Our sponge that was refrigerated all had date stamps within our three day shelf life and organized properly. Heavy cream and berries that are held in our refrigeration temped under 40 degrees and was within shelf life. I witnessed our cakers wearing gloves and only having out what they are using and nothing extra left out at room temperature. The cream was within the expiration time period. I also had followed up with the owner to ensure daily follow up in case there is something on our side to follow up on. Hand sink hot water temped at 140 degrees, and proper gloves and handwashing techniques were observed. Thank you very much for your time.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I am deeply disappointed with the company's response regarding the issue with the cake I purchased. I bought the cake at 10:45 AM and discovered it was moldy by 1 PM, during which time it was stored in the refrigerator. I have evidence to support this claim. I did not reserve or pre-order the cake. It is unacceptable for the business to imply that the fault lies with me. This is an appalling level of service.

Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to file a complaint about a recent purchase I made from Paris Baguette. On 4/19/2023. I purchased a cake from their store located at *********************************************************************************************. Within one day of purchase, the cake developed mold on it, rendering it completely inedible. I was extremely disappointed and concerned about the quality of the product I received from Paris baguette.I attempted to contact the store to rectify the situation, but was met with poor customer service and lack of concern from their staff. They were unhelpful and did not offer a refund or a replacement for the faulty cake.I believe that Paris Baguette has sold me a defective product, and their lack of customer service and unwillingness to rectify the situation is unacceptable. I would like to request a full refund for the cake and an assurance that Paris Baguette will take appropriate measures to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,******Customer response
