They refused to perform a wire transfer from my account, even though when I signed up for the account they promised free wire transfers. They said, "the system says your phone number is suspicious", with no additional information. Terrible. Also, customer service is completely useless. They put you on hold forever and do not help in any way, just try to get you off the phone as quick as possible.Review from Grace L

CIT bank advertises high savings rates on certain deposit accounts, then adds more deposit accounts to their offerings while drastically reducing rates of return on the previously touted high yield accounts. Does not disclose product rate offerings on customer's secure website portal, so as to require periodic visit to their website or other ratings websites to remain current on CIT's own competing products. CIT quotes certificate of deposit rates on 3, 6, 9, 13, and 15+ month deposits. Their website will typically not allow certificate holders to change the default renewal instruction at maturity of Certificate of Deposits. Worse, when a 13 month certificate of deposit matures, CIT Bank renews the certificate as a 12 month certificate, which pays a rate less then one tenth of any of their other rates, from 3 months to 5 years duration. This is a deceptive and predatory practice, completely out of synch with customary renewals of certificates at the same term duration as the original certificate was issued. The difference between a 13 month certificate at 4.65% and the 12 month "rollover renewal" rate of .03% is obviously a ploy to collect penalties for early withdrawals of certificates discovered to have matured and rolled into a product for that is not even offered to new customers or advertised on their website. This practice is obviously contrived to take advantage of customers, and reveals that CIT bank is not a trustworthy U.S. Bank. I'm closing all accounts and moving my money elsewhere.Review from Keith E

I had the onerous task of notifying multiple banks about the death of my mother-in-law. CIT bank (the headquarters not a local branch) provided by far the worst experience at a time when my family is struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. I spoke on the phone with a rep who seemed to have no idea what he was doing. I was prompted to provide the information at least twice. He asked for my name 3 times (and it only has 3 letters in it) In turn he asked me irrelevant questions like "What is your question". I got the impression he was working from home. He didn't ask for the account number. I told him I was dissatisfied with the service. He apologized and then proceeded to act in exactly the same way. It was almost as though he was stoned and he certainly seemed totally distracted. Eventually, I managed to glean from him that a packet of info would be sent to me "sometime in the next week or two". We're talking about a large sum of money here and as soon as I can I will move it to another bank.Review from marian t

I have reported this to the Consumers ************************* and have been trying desperately to find a way to contact CIT bank for acquire further verification, but to no avail, because when I go the website it now says the CIT bank is permanently closed. This is the second part of my review, regarding my *** account and my new Citi business checking account.Im continuing where I left off in the other review. So Im now waiting on the check to come back, trying my best to be patient. Two weeks goes by and no check. I then contact the *** ********** again and they said they had sent it out a week ago. I told them I had not received the check. They then proceed to give me the tracking number, to find out where the package was. When I called **** they advised me that it was dropped off at a home, that had an outdoor mat, with wine bottle decorations on it.I told them that I dont have that type of rug outside of my house. The first time I provided the representative with my address, they didnt catch the fact that the address was wrong. My $57,000 retirement check, was sent to the wrong address. Money that I worked 11 years to earn. This check is sitting at the wrong address. These days people can find different ways to cash checks. They could have cashed my check. So upon finding out the address that it was delivered to, I went over to the home several times, to attempt to get my check. The *** driver attempted to retrieve it as well. The people who lived there were never home. I then proceeded to contact the original people who sent the check to me, to have it cancelled and receive another check. This has now been about a two month process. I had to now wait to receive the new check.Bear in mind, the people in the ********* knew who both of the checks were written by and said it was ok to proceed with sending the second check and doing the transaction. Both of the checks were from a ********** Teachers retirement. One was just written out differently then the other. The remaining portion of this review will be in my next review post.Review from Danesh M

Citibank is now practicing trapping customer service methods. I have been a Citibank member since **** and this year is THE WORST! The great practice of transparency of your daily balance has dwindled. The Citibank app has a delay that doesnt process your current daily balance- which displays pending transactions and available balance- is now disabled. I am ACTIVELY looking to close my account and searching for a bank I have gotten false negative balances, delays in payments past the standard 3-business days to post and eventually change in two days. Moreover, I have gotten my card declined because Ive made multiple purchases in the same store Its embarrassing and I am sick of the constant dependency on calling Citibank only to get a foreign customer service rep who cant even understand my issue or question. I am totally disgusted!Review from BOB c
