I am a current student at this school. My first class was 11/12/22. The following week 11/18 i called the school to notify them i would not be coming in for class 11/19 as i had the flu. The week after was thanksgiving and the school was closed in observance of the holiday. Last week 12/3 and today 12/10 i commuted all the way into midtown manhattan for class and was greeted by a sign on the lobby door that said class is canceled and to contact admissions for rescheduling. Myself and another student who commuted all the way from ********** stood outside and waited about 20 minutes, checking to see if maybe the door had unlocked or the delivery elevator in the side entrance would go to the 5th floor where class is held (which it did not) before ultimately leaving. At no point did i receive any email or notice of any kind that class would be canceled, yet i receive unnecessary marketing emails from the school almost daily. At more than $900 for a 5 week course, and with a director (or instructor, not sure whom it was i met with when i toured) who prided herself on the schools BBB accreditation, i find it so ironic that in light of the circumstances here i am emailing the BBB in regards to their lack of not only courtesy but professionalism. This is unacceptable. I paid $15 round trip last week 12/3 and about $10 in tolls plus another $20 for a parking garage today 12/10 to get to class, just to turn back around. Photos of proof of payment for the aforementioned are enclosed. I would like to be reimbursed from the amount i paid for classes for my troubles these past 2 weeks seeing as how this could have CERTAINLY been avoided had someone sent a mass email, which would have taken less than 5 minutes of someones time. Much in the same way it took me 2 minutes of MY time to call out of class while sick.Business response

Hi ***********
We're sorry you had communication issues with the staff regarding Saturday class. The school did notify all Saturday students, by phone call (left VM) and e-mail, that the Instructor contracted COVID and make up dates had to be scheduled in an effort to ensure the safety of our students. All according to CDC guidelines. We apologize for any inconvenience. We would be happy to give you a refund if you no longer wish to attend. Please let us know. Uninterrupted Saturday classes continue in a straight run from January 7 to February 4 2023 if you did want to complete the course. Please advise how you want to proceed.

Date of transaction November 11, 2021. Paid $895 for a bartending course. I withdrew from the course on December 24, 2021, before the start of the course. I followed their withdrawal process exactly. I was told it could take up to 90 days to receive the refund. I reached out to them for the first time in April. I have called them repeatedly since then and emailed them as well. No one ever returns my calls or emails. I just want my refund for the course I never took.Business response

It seems that there was a clerical error pertaining to the enrollee that filed this complaint. A refund check was indeed cut timely, however it was sent to the wrong party. It is now apparent that there was an attendee named ****** *** who also enrolled within the same time frame. We now see that it should have gone to ***** and not ******. Having researched this further, it seems the check was never negotiated (thankfully).
We apologize for the error and had a check sent to ***** at the above listed address today. We also waived the non-refundable registration fee in lieu of the error and returned the entire amount she paid.
Please close this complaint following receipt of the refund.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.

I enrolled in American Bartenders school in November 2021. After attending one 4hr class I was not able to return because of medical reasons. I sent a written note along with a note from my doctor. I made a request for tuition reimbursement and was told it would take 45 days. They have not answered my calls or any of my messages. PLEASE HELP.Business response

An attempt was made to refund the customer by original payment method. Their card was expired and we did not receive a response requesting new card info. A check was then sent to the customer in a timely manner and never negotiated. It turns out that the address on file was incorrect. Customer was contacted promptly and a new check was cut for the full balance due. Check was picked ** in person today.
Customer is satisfied. Please disregard and close this complaint promptly.
