On 7/17/23, I took my Apple MacBook to company to replace a missing key on my keyboard. *******************************, the **** informed me that he would have to replace the entire keyboard. On 7/18/23, I sent him an email stating that I would like him to replace the keyboard but only if the work could be done by 7/31/23 as I was going on vacation. He assured me it would be done. On 7/19/23, I dropped off the keyboard for it to be repaired. On 7/26/23, I sent **** an email to check in on the laptop and reminded him that I needed it by 7/31/23. He said he was still working on it, but assured me that it would be done and we decided to have the pick up on Saturday 7/29/23. On 7/28/23, I checked in again to see when it would be ready, and he pushed back to Sunday 7/30/23. I told him I couldn't make that time, so I would come in on Monday, 7/31/23. On 7/31/23, he told me he was having trouble getting a ***** out, and therefore could not fix it; then, he sent another email stating the laptop wasn't turning on. I told him to immediately refund me as no service was provided. When I went to pick it up, I told him again to refund me the amount and he said he would. I reached out to him later that day via email to remind him of the refund. On 8/1/23, he said the refund was in process. However, as of 8/18/23 no refund has been processed. Not only has the refund not been processed, but **** never put the laptop back together, kept parts from my laptop (screws, etc.), and almost caused the screen to short circuit as he did not put the laptop back together appropriately. I spent $248 to get it repaired. The repair people fixed it in three days, and told me there was no reason for **** to take my laptop apart in the manner that he did, which could have caused serious damage and may still lead to the camera and screen short circuiting in the future.

      Customer response

      09/20/2023

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The company did not refund the money. I had to contact PayPal and my credit card company in order to have the money refunded. American Managed IT Services was not responding to my emails or to requests from PayPal. In the end, my credit card company handled the refund, not the business. I also needed to spend nearly $250 to fix the damage caused to my laptop by American Managed IT Services and my laptop is still not working correctly. The *** negligently took apart my laptop, did not put it back together properly, and kept parts from the laptop. This negligence caused the laptop to dysfunction and required me to spend $250 to get it fixed. American Managed IT Services should pay for this damage and for the parts it stole.
