On 3/2/23, I went to Madison Dental Group to have my cap glued back on. My longtime dentist at MDG, ********************, had always told me that he wanted to use light glue on my caps so that he could get them off easily when he wanted to. He told me that if they ever came off when eating, not to worry, he would glue them back on at no charge. And that is exactly what he always did.******************** apparently retired from MDG on December 2022. When the cap came off in March 2023 and I went to the office, the new receptionist, *******, asked me if my insurance was still up to date. I explained that that didn't matter because ******************** said there would be no charge. He nodded and waived me away from the desk, as if to acknowledge there was no charge. When the new dentist at MDG glued the cap back on she said it should not have come off. I explained that ******************** wanted to use a light glue and that is why it came off. Later, the office tried to bill over $800 to my insurance. When I called ******* and reminded him of our conversation, he said "well we're billing insurance", as if that was not billing me. However, my insurance company has changed, they do not have my new insurance information, so they are now trying to collect from me directly. Even though they acknowledged at the office that there would be no charge, and even though they acknowledge (even now!) that their records show ******************** never billed me (or my insurance) for this type of work. Indeed, because they know from their records that ******************** never charged me, they have offered to reduce the fee to $400, without any explanation of why I would pay $400 when they acknowledged at the office there would be no charge, when they therefore did not seek payment from me when I was at the office, and when (as they know from their records) ******************** told me there would be no charge for putting the cap back on.Customer response
