I started a 403b plan 12 years ago in one school district and have been trying off and on for TEN YEARS to roll over these funds into my current plan in another school district. I have only been put on hold and transferred around, and told again and again to download the forms again and fill them out again, and get all the signatures from both the districts AGAIN more than five times now. I finally got help from a representative from another company in my other school district who helped me make sure I did everything correctly this time and I just received another letter today rejecting my attempt again because apparently the download of my paperwork is time sensitive and it didn't all get through in that time frame. I just waited for a representative to pick up my call for 30 minutes, and tried chatting on the site but no one is connecting. This is ridiculous. My husband's experiences with other companies have been very quick and easy. I will never work with Equitable again and I will let both districts know of my experience in the hopes that they will choose other companies to work with.Equitable Response

Terrible. I cannot reach customer service. They also are not letting me pay off my loan. They "suspended" the payment I made. I don't know why or how to fix it, because again, I cannot reach customer service. I have tried now for almost four hours.Equitable Response

Not sure if their services are worthwhile once you have an actual active account with them maybe they are BUT I can say with confidence that in the three months Ive been communicating with various organizations and offices to untangle matters related to my mothers death, I have never had a more frustrating or dehumanizing customer service experience than with **********************. Virtually impossible to speak with someone who could answer a few simple questions about my mothers terminated policy and at least four times I was transferred to someone who could supposedly help me and who knew more info, but I was instead transferred back to an automated menu that did not include an option for what I needed. Eventually I was put on hold, each time for over ************************************************************************* the future with information the information that I didnt have but was trying to get. Grieving is hard and disorienting. Basically all I want when dealing with the complex paperwork and other logistics following my mothers death is for people to be kind, competent, and accessible. Equitable failed me more than any other company Ive dealt with (and Ive dealt with a lot) in the last three months.Eventually i spoke to a nice man who could share some info with me, but this was after THREE HOURS of holding and being disconnected by their system at least twice.Equitable Response

THESE ARE THE ONLY TRUE PROFESSIONALS IN THE ****** AREA. ALL OF THE BAD REVIEWS ARE MOST LIKELY FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE PLACED THIER MONEY WITH A VERY RESPONSIBLE AND SOMEWHAT CONSIRVATIVE INVESTMEST FIRM, WITH AN EXTREMELY LONG HISTORY, AND VERY, VERY, VERY GREAT PERFORMANCE RECORD. IF I COULD GIVE THESE FELLAS 20 STARS I WOULD. MY ENTIRE FAMILY AND THE COMPANY I AM A PARTNER IN HAVE BOTH INVESTED WITH THEM, AND HAD WE BOTH DONE IT WITHOUT THIER SUPPORT, KNOWLEDGE, GUIDANCE, AND OVERALL FIDICIARY GUIDANCE WE WOULD BOTH HAVE LESS THAN ZERO. MY FATHER RAN A LARGE COMPANY IN THE ******, ** AREA, AND TRUSTED THIS FIRM WITH THIER ENTIRE 401K PROGRAM, AS WELL AS INVESTMENTS FROM EMPLOYEES. We've been trying to get our 503b retirement funds from Equitable for months. All we want to do is a simple rollover to a Traditional **** They reject transfer requests with no explanation. When trying to phone them they say they are in training and hang up on you. In order to add delay they require mail instead of on-line or email. Everybody you contact says they can't help and to talk to somebody else. Any mistake on a form instead of correcting it they make you start over. If something is wrong they don't let you know or correct it. I don't think they operate in good faith. Terrible to have someone have your money and not be responsive.Equitable Response

I was never contacted. To add insult to injury they now claim the process has taken too long and we must start over. Unbelievable.I don't think they operate in good faith to give our money back. I've dealt with numerous brokerages over 40 years and never experienced anything like this.Review from Heather W

I found this website by Googling "Equitable customer service nightmares." I have been trying to get my money out of Equitable for months. Each time, I'm given the run around and told I need different forms, need to talk to someone different or something else entirely. It's so frustrating to have to jump through ridiculous hoops to get the money I've worked so hard for. If anyone knows of any governmental monitoring organization they can be reported to, please that information.Equitable Response

I would make this zero stars if I could. I have been trying to receive funds for a couple of weeks now trying to pay for a trip that I have had planned, and form after form is asked for and sent back in a timely manner. I started it with a school district that I havent worked for in almost 6 years. You shouldnt have to receive permission to take YOUR MONEY from people you no longer work for. They make it ridiculously hard for you to get YOUR money. I would not recommend. If my money doesnt come in a timely manner. I am going to be upset. Youre better off starting a plan with your local bank than dealing with these charlatans.Equitable Response

Truly the worst experience I have ever had with an advisor. I have requested my money to be withdrawn repeatedly for 3 weeks without any luck. Once I finally received the check it bounced and has been returned to them. I am now unable to get the money again and will be taking legal action. Do not invest with Equitable.Equitable Response

I have been trying to transfer my Equitable account to another broker for a YEAR. Each time we are given a form. We send it back timely, wait for a while, call back to find out why the money wasnt transferred, are told that it was the incorrect form (that they provided!), it needed different information, an electronic signature, a wet signature, etc. I just got off the phone with customer service again. They claimed to have never received my last transfer request form and provided the same fax number that we used 1 month agowhich apparently goes straight into a trash bin.Do not invest with Equitable if you intend to ever see that money again.Equitable Response
