This company Sunlight Financial LLC, do not know that Solar Tax credit is not a REFUND and want customer to give them 30% of a tax credit. Which this is a TAX LIABILITY. America 30% tax credit is for any taxes that you owe. If you do not apply 30% to the loan your payment goes up.Review from Dan R

I'm in the process of trying to sell my home. I am attempting to have buyer takeover the loan which I was initially told I could do. I have the Buyers contact Sunlight Financials to have credit run and they're told since loan is under 15k they have to payoff the full amount. This was news to me when I called to confirm I was told the same my loan is only about 200 or 300 below 15k and they won't make an exception. Also no one ever calls you back or emails you any information. No one can even tell you when a supervisor *** call you back. I've explained my situation to the care reps that this has delayed my closing and my deal *** fall through still no call back. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Also no where in my contract was mention of this 15k minimum.Buyer beware if you take a loan with this company.Review from Yukiko T

We had windows installed in our home. Sunlight Financial was the loan servicer but never sent a single loan documents or email communication for setting up an online account. There was an initial period of 0% financing. The loan amount was $26,238.00 we paid $2,000.00 per month for 12 months. We had $2,238.00 remaining on the principal as of Feb. 2024. We called to request a payoff quote and was informed to pay the monthly payment amount. We thought that was the remaining balance after the auto pay amount. $4,000.00 later, we realize we have just been paying interest at ******%! After receiving the pay off quote and paying the amount in full that day, they still had the daily interest charge of $1.30 they refused to waive. We will be filing a claim with the court for lack of transparency and communication.Review from Helen C

Formal Complaint: We were wrapping up final details; when I was told by ************, to finalize the loan they would accept a minimum of making our Solar Lender, Sunlight Financial a second lien holder. LoanDepot would become the First Lienholder. "SF" authorized + Filed the request.Review from John C

They are a ripoff. How they went bankrupt with the interest they charge is beyond me. I make payments of $150 per month with only about $27 going to the principal loan amount. It is disgusting to me, none of this was reviewed with me prior to the sale of the solar panels and the subsequent loan from Sunlight. Palmetto Solar made the sale and used Sunlight for the loan, whatn irks me the most is that Sunlight was NOT far from their Chapter 11 filing so the solar company HAD to know something fishy was up. I feel fleeced and by the time my principal loan is paid, we're I to stick to my current payment plan, I would have paid like 4 it merely in interest. Again, how these money grabbers went bankrupt is a mystery with all this money flowing in monthly. STAY AWAY from any solar contractors using this loan company and MAKE SURE to go over every gd detail not your contract where your loan is concerned. This is what I get for being as trusting as I am, it is all a racket and I'm sickened. Btw, I am located in ***********.Review from Joshua S

It has been 6 months and all I have is decorative solar panels on my roof from ****** Solar financed by Sunlight Financial. They did not pull permits before beginning work and because of that the city will not install their bi-directional meter until the city requirements are met. I am convinced at this point ****** and Sunlight may never finish the job as they are unable to provide any updates on anything. My plan is to default on my loan unless i can find a better course of action. There is no way I'm paying $48,000 for decorative solar panels. lol. what a joke.Review from Terry E

This is a deceitful company that takes your money only to pay interest no matter how much extra you pay monthly.Nothing extra you pay goes toward principle. instead they hold that extra money till the following month to pay interest instead of using it on previous months principle when interest was fully paid. They also double dip on interes charges. This is a shady company for loans steer ************ somewhere else or a loan with them will never be paid off.Review from Steve S

Sunlightfinacial/techcu is/was the lender for my solar panels from ************.The worst company on the planet..Two and a half years ago ************ {who has since closed their doors}installed non working panels on my house with out a permit. The finance company I.E sunlight financial knew the panels were installed illegally and paid ************ without complete installation and proper proof. My city demanded the panels be removed because they were illegally installed etc and i now have damage to ******* and mold and no solar.Sunlight financial did not confirm that each milestone was met prior to installation with ************.No permits, inspections ,receipts, photos etc prior to illegal installation of faulty solar panels.but was quick to release funds to ************ without my permission and is now demanding payment from me for a product that i do not have i.e. solar .Review from Mary M

I have had a number of challenges with this company. I was routed to them through my roofer. when I applied for financing for my new roof, I filled out all paperwork and completed the application for ACH withdrawal for a lower interest rate. I received an email confirming all of this. Then I was sent a second set of paperwork and instructed to complete. When I did so, they redid the financing, using a higher amount borrowed and a higher rate. When I reached out to correct, they corrected the loan amount but did not acknowledge the lower rate. I was told that would be corrected. In December I received a letter in the mail with the correct amount, and the higher interest rate with a note that if I complete the paperwork for ACH withdrawal it would be lowered. When I call to say I already did that, they set up a "case" and provided a number. No one called me back. On the payment date I reached out to see if there was any resolution, with no response. Today, I received a call from the loan company (two days after the first payment due date) telling me that I was in arrears and was being moved to collections. When I complained that I had been trying to resolve the payment and rate issue, they told me they are instructed to inform everyone they are in collections, even if they are two days late. At this point this problem has still not been corrected. I will be taking out a new loan and getting out of this as soon as possible.
