I bought a wellness retreat with Deepak Chopra Global. I had to cancel but was given a voucher worth nearly $5000 to use on any other Chopra retreat or wellness retreat. He sold his company to institute of integrated nutrition and although theyre both affiliated and aligned with each other, none are taking responsibility for the $5000 they owe me. I have spent the last few months trying to get a refund. I was told by the institute of integrated nutrition that I could use my voucher to buy online training but I wasnt going to be refunded. I bought a health retreat not an online training course. Id like my money refunded please.Initial Complaint

I purchased the ************ Program" on January 18, **** for $185 (order #****). The package included a body oil, journal, 2 tinctures, 30 days worth of guided wellness practices, daily journal prompts and weekly, live community satsangs that were to start today, January 29th. The advertisement for this experience was emailed to me on January 18th and stated that it was the last chance to purchase the program, not giving any inclination that I might not have everything set up by today, the day that it is supposed to start. Since that day I have received the oil, tinctures and journal in the mail along with a Welcome Email for the package with a link for the introduction that doesn't work. So not only does the welcome email not work, but no guided wellness program or daily journal prompts which are pretty much the whole reason that I purchased the program.I contacted support twice last week about the fact that the email link doesn't work and that I have not received my meditations yet and have not received any response back. The link on the receipt email to reach out for assistance goes to "Page Unfound", along with the links to listen to the meditations on that email not working. There are no other ways to contact the company other than this email address, ************************************* this point I either want what I paid for by the end of the day or I just want my money back because I am so disappointed in a company representing a man that I truly admire treating their customers this way.Customer response

In reference to complaint ID ********, I found that the products that I was missing were put in my account yesterday. Thought I am not thrilled that their customer service is practically non-existent and that I still have not heard from anyone with the company, I find that this resolution is satisfactory and the matter has been resolved.

I signed up for a free trial on the Chopra website. When attempting to cancel trial on the website I was directed to reach out via email since the website stated I was unable to do so online. I reached out via email at ********************************** and informed them that I wanted to cancel my free trial before I was charged. A representative ****** stated that they were unable to find any subscription under my email address and asked if I used another. I advised that it would have been only one email, since that was the same email I used to sign into their website. I have not received a response since then which was on 01/04/24. I just received an invoice from Chopra for $69.99 for the charge as well as my email address showing within the invoice. Furthermore, they provided a customer portal to a completely different site in order to cancel the subscription only after the payment was made. This is very shady tactics and I demand that my money is credited back to my account since they made it impossible to even cancel the free trial.Customer response

I paid for four different 21-day meditations from the Chopra Center since 2014, but keep losing access to my account. They reset my password but not a single purchased meditation is showing up on my account.The four different meditations that we purchased were: Perfect Health ($39.99)Energy of Attraction ($39.99)Expanding Your Happiness ($39.99)Finding Your Flow ($49.99)If I had access to them, I would continue to listen to the meditations, but the Chopra Center keep blocking me from them, even though I've paid for them. They reset the password and I have had access to them again for a while; but now the access has removed again. I've contacted them several times and they have not given me access to them, even though, they reset the password, they have been removed from my account.Business response

On 4/25/2021 I purchased a bundle of meditations from Chopra for $199.00. Unbeknownst to me, that purchase signed me up for an annual subscription. I was charged $69.99 on 4/24/2022, but did not notice the charge and was not notified in any way. On 4/25/2023 I was charged $69.99 again. I noticed this charge on my credit card bill and called their customer service at ************ and asked for the details. That's when I was told I was enrolled in an annual subscription. The customer service representative said she canceled my subscription (which I can find no proof of), but refused to reverse the annual fee that was charged on 4/25/2023. She elevated my complaint to her manager, but informed me it was managements policy to not reverse charges and it would not do me any good to complain to them. The terms of service show this new fee is for the next subscription term, which runs through April 24, ****.. The terms of service also state the company is not required to notify customers of upcoming charges, which does not seem fair.Business response

I paid $2800. to attend the Well Within Chopra Retreat in *******************, **, October 29, 2021 - October 31, 2021. A few weeks before I was advised that I needed back surgery (laminectomy). I was in pain but thought I would go to the retreat. When I received the date for surgery (November 2, 2021) I became aware that due to COVID requirements I had to remain in Nevada for 2 weeks prior to having the surgery. Postponing the surgery would give me 2 more weeks of pain. I also am a caregiver and live with a stroke survivor and need to get my physical abilities back.I contacted *************************** at Chopra and requested a refund due to medical reasons. After a few emails back and forth they decided to keep a $1000. cancellation fee and put the remaining $1800 in a fund for future use in 18 months. I do not know how to upload any supporting documents. I can mail copies of the emails to and from ***************************, Program Coordinator and papers indicating my surgery dates and other medical information. My surgery is this coming Tuesday.Customer response

I signed up for the Chopra app for my phone about a month ago with the email address provided in this complaint. After deciding to no longer use the app, I deleted it but continued to receive associated emails. I attempted to click on the "unsubscribe" link provided in the emails, but it did not work--it brought you to the main page of the site without any indication of how to unsubscribe. I reached out to the company and asked them to remove my email from their list on 6/27/21. I was told that my email had been removed and to allow for several days. I continued to receive emails from their company and emailed again on 7/4 asking for my email to be removed. They asked me to wait again. Finally on 7/11 I emailed again and did not receive a response. I am still getting emails as of this writing. I am simply asking for them to completely remove my email from their database. It has been almost a month since the first request with no luck.
