In the spring, I contacted White Pages for a single address which I was furnished. Unknown to me, I am said to have signed a monthly billing contract - $19.99 monthly - knowingly, I never would have done so as neither needed or requested continued service. White Pages is not transparent but rather deceptive. My Paypal Acc was billed $19.99 in May, **** and July; my wife pays the credit card **** so I did not notice the charge. In July, I received a receipt from Paypal for the July payment, my first awareness; our long stnding practice is for my wife to pay bills, though i appreciate I should have been more careful to detect White Pages deceptive practices. I tried to cancel the acc with White Pages but could not - the phone number on the web site is incomplete, lacking a digit; I appreciate you might be skeptical of this but you can verify my comment by visiting the web site. When I filed a complaint with White Pages on its web site, delivery was blocked as I was said not to have entered the phone number in an incorrect format, though I in fact did it correctly. When I called a phone number provided by BBB, I reached an impenetrable automated system. White Pages states I cannot cancel on line without reaching my acc, but I do not have an acc as i did not know I was to have one and never set one up - I did not want nor have a continuing business relationship with White Pages - I sought a single address and White Pages surely knew that. I want my acc CANCELLED and I want a $39.98 refund as the charges for **** and July were not authorized and I neither requested nor received any service.
