We hired FLC for our new construction home. The sales rep convinced me to be the General contractor of the build to save money even though I had no experience with construction and I told him that. He said he would help me with everything. The project was delayed by them for almost 4 months and when I requested a reason they just said that's how things were going at the time. While planning everything out (room design, window selection etc) I had to pull information out of them. They wouldn't let me come to their office to figure out the interior design, I had to do it all through emails. Then the change orders started. The contractor that did all of the site work put an 8" step between the house and garage because it was in the site plan that an engineer drew up. FLC didn't see the step until they ordered materials so they then charged us $1600 to account for the step. When I asked for a breakdown they listed everything out and up-charged everything down to the air in the air compressors. The sales rep told me he would work on getting that cost reduced as it was clearly unfair. Never happened. When they finally started the build, the construction was unprofessional and disorganized. Framing on the interior was so bad we had to purchase more materials to fix their mistakes (nails missing from stud walls, boards not secured at all, split boards that should have been replaced when installed just left in place, door and window framing out of square). We finally told them we would finish the build ourselves after the roof started leaking and it took them 3 separate trips out to fix it. We told them how unhappy we were with the work and they did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation, they didn't even listen to what we were saying. Now 4 months later after hearing nothing from them, we received a notice in the mail that they placed a Mechanic's Lien on our property for the balance of money we supposedly owe them. No one should ever use this company.
