The whole point of the onsite examination of trees and proposal generation (which every other tree service I have contacted does for free but Mr. Gates charges $500 which may then be applied to a work contract) is to identify the exact trees and their individual problems as well as the proposed service and cost for such service. Mr. Gates provided a proposal that included such unprofessional entries as "approximately 8 trees" without identifying them by marking them with colored tape as is the customary process. The landowner needs this information to evaluate the proposal -- which appears to be what Mr. Gates hopes to avoid: informed customers. Mr. Gates has been asked to refund the $500 paid for the evaluation which remains incomplete and to also refund the $2214 and change paid as a deposit for the phase one -- which I canceled within the three days of his onsite so-called evaluation visit. I have received no response to the below email and no receipts indicating refunds to date. I have also in the meantime engaged the services of another ISA certified arborist and discovered that Mr. Gates wildly inflated his estimates and included multiple trees which do not need to be cut down at all -- so that the estimate from the other arborist is a fifth that of Mr. Gates. Obviously, I will not want to ever engage the services of Mr. Gates and cannot trust that his evaluation -- if he ever bothered to complete it -- would be trustworthy. I cannot accept what appears to be obvious exploitation of my good will and of my disability status (I am homebound and could not accompany him on the half mile road being evaluated). I hope that BBB will obtain the only reasonable resolution to this situation: a full refund. Thank you for your anticipated assistance in this matter. - ***
