I have been a customer for 10 years, spending over $2k on dry cleaning. I had noticed service quality decline under the new ownership 3 years ago - a shirt that was lost for a week then found, buttons missing or broken. But never again! I recently brought in a $90 sweater with a few oil stains for dry cleaning. The stains were removed but when I received the shirt back a new stain appeared that looked like a cleaning agent or chemical that was certainly not there when I dropped it off. The owner acknowledged that the damage was possibly related to the fact that he believed my sweater is suede (it is in fact 92% cotton, 8% elastane and is dry clean friendly per the label). The owner tried to remove the stain caused by Classic Cleaners, but was unsuccessful. He then told me I could get it removed for $40 through a special service they utilized. I refused given they had damaged my shirt with this stain and are liable to either give me a new sweater or absorb the cost to return my garment undamaged. The owner refused to rectify the situation unless I paid the $40 to remove the stain he had caused.Initial Complaint

I took a small 3x5 rug, about a $350 value, to the dry cleaner in July 2021. After many months of being told that the rug was not ready, with me leaving phone numbers and emails numerous times, one employee brought me a pile of yarn that was the rug I had dropped off. I was shocked and asked for the owner to call me to tell me what he would do to take responsibility. He never called me. One day I ran into him in a parking lot. He asked me what I wanted. I said I would settle for credit at the dry cleaner for $100. This is a fraction of the value of the rug, and no real cost to him. But it would have been a gesture of responsibility and decency in business and human practice. He told me he would get back to me. He never did. Finally, almost 6 months later of leaving messages -- I called him yet again. He told me they should never had taken the rug due to a repair that had made recently. Fair enough: If they couldn't handle it (another clear had) they shouldn't have taken it. They were in the wrong. He then offered $30 store credit, an insulting gesture. He accepts no responsibility, he has evaded and avoided me. He has lied to me. He is unethical. I have lost a $350 rug. He is a bad businessman. At this point, I would like the rug to be replaced.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
At this time, I have not been contacted by Classic Cleaners regarding complaint ID ********.As noted in my complaint -- I did finally discuss the matter with the business owner BEFORE I contacted you, and he was unwilling to take responsibility for the damage he caused to my property. I have not heard from him or his representative since before I filed a complaint.
Sincerely,
